BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
11th – 12th July 2020
Firstly, Special thanks to our good friends that have kicked in some dollars to help my family and I keep food on our table, lights on and baliwaves.com being able to help keep you in the loop. We do know from first hand experience how tough it is here in Bali with absolutely no support other than friends and family. We would also like to offer a free promotional service to any other small outfits / businesses that are surf related here in Indonesia and Australia.
So in turn we have told all our sponsors that we will be waving any fee’s until things are getting back to normal again. Please contact us to see if your eligible for free promotion on baliwaves.
baliwaves.com is happy to be able to give our friends at JOWA SURF a little love with some promo on us. As we mention above times are tough and we are here to help any small local business with a little more awareness through baliwaves.com
Hello everyone and thanks again for stopping by the baliwaves (your eye’s on the waves here on the first choice tropical surfing holiday destination). Yesterday the 11th and I called a lay day and just caught up on some stuff here at home. But I did hear that wave height was still only in the 2-4ft class depending on where you were looking. The West Coast has been the best option the last few days with the low tide happening through the early am and the ESE Trade wind kicking in fairly early each day. But I still think there might have been a few sneaky waves over there. Especially now that all of Bali’s beaches have been re opened.
Our swell forecast didn’t quite materialize and has changed to show more size headed our way around the 15th – 16th. But we have seen a noticeable increase in size today (12th) down at Uluwatu. One of the boys said it was only in the head to head high plus range yesterday afternoon. Today it was pushing double to triple head high. I was a bit surprised to only find two surfers in the water waiting for waves on the Outside Racetrack / Baby Corner section. There was also another couple right down at “Secrets” under the shadow of the Temple. Secrets was delivering some nice waves and the two out there were getting plenty of action. I do have to say that Uluwatu was almost like a ghost town down in the cliff side warungs as well.
I’ve also got a little fresh video footage from my last couple of trips down to Uluwatu so keep an eye out for a new clip tomorrow.
Weather wise today it’s been just a typical hot and sunny. Right now at 2.30pm the temperature is a warm 30 degree’s Celsius, Humidity is at 68%. Wind direction is out of the ESE-SE at 25km/h. The tide has just gone past the top and on the way down for a 0.6mtr Low at 8.30 tonight.
Tomorrows surf forecast is looking to be pretty much the same as today’s, almost a carbon copy. Further out the charts are now calling for more moderate sized swell hitting Bali on the 16th with the peak of it for the 17th-18th, we will have to wait and see.
Bali Corona Virus situation, well the situation for many will be starting to change as of tomorrow the 13th. With the Immigration office declaring the end of the emergency visas. This will coincide with the start of Indonesia’s “New era” and also with the Australian Gov now charging Australian citizens that are re repatriating for their 14 day quarantine at a 5 star price. Apparently there are still 1000’s of Aussies here on the emergency stay visa that will now have to return to Australia. Likewise with all the young Europeans that have been here all through the pandemic will also be asked to return back to their home countries of residence. I’m sure there will be exceptions for those who can’t get a flight, but anyone abusing the orders will be fined US$100.00 per day over stay fee.
Nationally in the last 24hrs Indonesia has seen 1,671 new positive cases with 66 more deaths. Here in Bali the numbers have settled down from a high number of 85 on Saturday down to 37 new positive cases today, Bali’s death toll from the Corona Virus is now at 27. But seeing as though it is Sunday so the numbers might jump again early next week. Fingers crossed that they do not and we can really start to get back to some normality. No new Visas are being issued but anyone still holding a Kitas or Kitap visa are allowed to fly into Indonesia. But with lots of paper work involved and maybe even some quarantine time, you would need to check that out with your airline and the department of Immigration for more accurate information.
Please play your part, if you need to go out of your home wear a mask and use the social distance rules, don’t be afraid to tell people if they are invading your space.
