BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
3rd – 4th August 2020
Firstly, Special thanks to our good friends that have kicked in some dollars to help my family and I keep food on our table, lights on and baliwaves.com being able to help keep you in the loop. We do know from first hand experience how tough it is here in Bali with absolutely no support other than friends and family.
We would also like to offer a free promotional service to any other small outfits / businesses that are surf related here in Indonesia and Australia. So in turn we have told all our sponsors that we will be waving any fee’s until things are getting back to normal again. Please contact us to see if your eligible for free promotion on baliwaves.
Hello Bali people and welcome back to your baliwaves. Well firstly most of you would already be aware that I have been out on a bit of a fishing binge the last few days. Priority No.1 at the moment for myself and quite a lot of Balinese is putting food on the table. Unfortunately due to the Corona virus and Bali being shut down from it’s usual tourism the only way I can make that happen is from reverting back to being a fisherman once more, times are tough for everyone.
But yesterday the 3rd with predicted light variable wind and plenty of swell hitting the East Coast I took a spin over to Keramas. I was hoping to find some local chargers in the line up and was stoked find a few of Bali’s top surfers out there tearing it to shreds. The tide had just passed through the top and starting to run out with a light off shore breeze. Wave height was easily hitting the double head high mark on the bigger sets and they were nice and round.
I also managed to shoot a tonne of video footage that I haven’t had a chance to look through yet, but I’m pretty sure there should be some sick rides among it. Hopefully I’ll get onto that tomorrow so keep an eye out for it. It was a hard choice shoot the photos or shoot the video as I had two tripods set up but on my own. So it was pick one or the other haha. Anyway I hung out till around 10.45am just as the wind was starting to swing to the SSE, but still only light and the waves were still rocking through. But I wanted to get back home and get out for another afternoon sunset fishing session and keep the fish fresh.

Today the 4th and so far I’ve been stuck in front of this lap top all morning. So I haven’t even made the 400mtr trip down to the beach yet. But don’t worry it is on my agenda for this afternoon so I’ll post an afternoon surf and weather video report on Twitter and Instagram / Facebook when I get down there.
Weather wise I do know it’s been a mostly hot and sunny if not windy Tuesday so far. Last night we had a Full Moon rise and the next tide today here in Bali will be a dry reef exposing 0.1mtr Low at 4.44pm. The ESE-SE Trade wind kicked in early today as predicted and is currently blowing pretty hard off shore here on the West side.
Tomorrow’s swell prediction is calling for another bump in wave height with more size over on the East Coast from the SSW direction. We can also expect more light and variable wind early before the Tradey kicks in mid morning ish.
On the Bali Corona Virus situation, well Bali’s borders have reopened to Domestic tourism eg Java, Lombok etc etc. Although the numbers say there has been a big exodus into Bali the streets around here in South Kuta are still relatively quite. Yesterday there was quite a lot of traffic on the road in the Sanur area and a lot of foreign number plates on cars and bikes. Hopefully Bali will pull through it as the numbers of positive Corona virus cases outside of Bali continue to grow, time will tell. So please stay safe, follow protocol by wearing a mask if you have to venture outside the safety of your home. Keep a safe distance from people you don’t know. That’s not a lot to ask so do your part please.
Ok thanks again for dropping inthe baliwaves and we are looking forward to seeing everyone back here asap
