BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
26th – 30th August 2020
Hello everyone and a special hello to our friends, friends that really know us and have shown us the much needed support through this extremely tough mentally and physically time. We are going into our 8th month of no income and I’m sure you would be able to work out how hard that would be. It is only through your help that we are keeping everything together keeping the lights on and food on the table.
Ok folks well for those that have been watching the swell forecasts for Indonesia in anticipation of returning would know that it’s been pretty small the last few days. Here in Tuban the outer reefs have only seen 1-2ft plus waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport left. With the ESE-SE Trade wind doing it’s best to blow the backs outta the waves gusting up to 25 knots. The best waves and conditions have been down along the untold beach breaks between Kuta and Seminyak that are better suited to the smaller waves.
I also took my old outrigger boat out for sea trials and the hope of catching some fresh fish on Thursday. It was great to be out of the water and boat and outboard passed with flying colors (I bought the outboard new in 2005). Unfortunately no fish to be found or seen between Seminyak to Uluwatu.
Today the 30th and as it shows in our latest photo gallery the swell we were hoping to see arrive yesterday finally showed up today. I turned up at Uluwatu at 7.45am to find wave height still mainly in the 2-4ft class with 15 surfers out between the Main Peak and top end of the Racetrack. The tide had just passed through the top end and starting to run back out. The wind was fresh out of the East at 10-12knot. As the tide kept running out we started to see some bigger set waves starting to show on the Peak and it wasn’t long before we had the off 6 footer showing. I think some of the surfers out in the water were not expecting the increase in size so there was a lot of bailing out happening.
Driving back home at 10.30am past Impossible’s there were at least 15-20 surfers on the middle section of Impossible’s and I’m sure there would have been more scattered all the way down to Bingin and Balangan.
Weather wise it’s been a perfect Sunday with just blue sky and sunshine here on the holiday island. Right now at 3.40pm the temperature is still a nice 29 Celsius, Humidity is at 65%. Wind direction is out of the SE at 22knot.
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is calling for wave height to bump up a little more and probably peaking on the morning High tide. The wind will be out of the East early before the Tradey kicks in and swing a little more to the SE.
On the Bali Corona Virus situation the numbers keep climbing. Looking at the daily graphs and stats it does look like the opening of Bali to domestic tourism has not done any favors to Bali. Before Bali’s borders were opened Bali’s infection graph was on the downward curve but now almost 1 month later we are back to the highest numbers we have had. The Governor of Bali has made the wearing of personal face masks a law but I haven’t seen any checks being done and there are still way too many people especially tourists not following this basic protocol.
I’ve also received some fresh photos from our friends down at Bingin so thanks to the crew at Swell Bali Bingin I’ll get those up on the baliwaves for you asap.
Ok friends thanks again for dropping by the baliwaves and thank you again for all your support through this unprecedented pandemic situation we are battling through. Stay safe where ever you might be and we can’t wait for a return to normal and seeing you all back here enjoying beautiful Bali again as soon as possible.
