Damai Bungalows, South Sumatra
3rd Sept 2020
Hi all, here’s the latest update from all thats going on here at Damai Bungalows and the general Lampung area……. So what has changed?, not a lot really on the surfing scene anyway, the waves keep rolling through and there is sadly a lack of our normal surfing punters here to enjoy them. When we 1st came to this area in 2001 it was empty, the first month we surfed here back then we saw 3 Kiwi’s in the markets once, and besides that we did not see or surf with another person for the whole month….. It’s kinda like that now, granted a couple of expats in the area and the groms surfing when they can, but really it’s empty, day in day out. There has been no lack of swell, the trades have kicked in so it just keeps pushing in, when it jacks Krui has been producing on both the left and the right, admittedly we haven’t been up north for a while so not really sure whats being doing up there other than to say it would also be empty
With the lack of our normal surfing guests, the area has been ticking over on weekend trade from locals from the cities. I think most businesses in Pesisir Barat have been benefitting from our slefie loving local guests, both in helping keep all our staff employed and in general just keeping spirits up, it’s a definite change from a normal season but it is a welcome change and hopefully will continue till whenever these restrictions are lifted, sooner rather than later would be good
Besides a couple of parties hosted by our neighbours to break things up a bit, it’s been pretty quiet really, but we are still here, still open and continue to support all our staff, guests or no guests, as many other businesses have been doing as well
If you’re looking for a change of scenery and waves, hit us up at [email protected] and lets do a deal, we’d be stoked to host you all, and the staff would be stoked to see surfers back here again
Quick mention that Lion Air has now reopened flights to/ from Bandar Lampung – Krui for those put off with the drive, best check Lion Air’s website or something like Traveloka for up to date info on pricing and scheduling
That’s about it from the jungle, hope everyone is hanging in there & keeping safe. This can’t last forever and we will get through it…… till next time…… get shacked…..
Cheers….. Jungleman…….
