BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
24th – 25th May 2021
Hello Bali people and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (the original Bali surf report website since 1999, for surfers by surfers)
I don’t know if most of you are still aware that Bali is really still hurting, most of Bali anyway. I guess you could say there are a couple of area’s around Canggu and down on the bukit that are cashing in from the European explosion. My family and I have a small guest house that mostly serves to Aussies, English, Kiwi’s, Americans etc and there hasn’t been any of those here on holiday since last Jan 2020. We are not alone of course, especially if any of you have watched the last video clip I posted with footage from Kuta and Legian (baliwaves YouTube channel).
There is a lot of desperation and depression happening around the island. Likewise if any of our friends can spare a dollar or two to help my Family it would be greatly appreciated, thanks (please hit this link to help out). Most of Bali is hanging out for our Australian brothers and sisters to return and Make Bali Great Again.
Hi folks and yesterday the 24th there were some nice waves breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport left while the kids and I were down de fouling the bottom our boat and outriggers. The tide was pretty low through the afternoon so there wasn’t much happening on KR or AL but Middle Reef was pouring through pretty much wave after wave in the head to well over head high class. Talking to the local photographers down at Uluwatu this morning and they reckoned it was good all day down there with a big crowd in the water.
Today the 25th and I waiting till the solid 2.5mtr high tide had peaked before heading down to Uluwatu, hoping to catch some smoking waves on the Peak and Temple sections through the run out. I was surprised (PC version) to see the wind was still fresh on shore out of the W-WSW when I made it down to Warung Surya over looking the Main Peak. There was no shortage of swell and waves hitting Temples and the Peak, some waves were peeling off from the Peak all the way down through the Racetrack section. The only thing missing was surfers.
Between 9.30 to 10.30am there was only around 5-10 surfers scattered from Temples all the way down to the Racetrack, only 3 riders on the Main Peak. The surfers in the water must have thought it was Christmas at Uluwatu but from a surf photographers point of view it was torture as the crew that were there were not doing a helluva a lot, bad luck for me, good luck for them. I was stoked when the young lady hit the line up at temples and totally tore it up. Just for the record today’s photo gallery does feature 11 photos of the ladies in action.
News in from Canggu was also calling some nice waves on all 3 main sections from Echo, Sandbar and the Pererenan River mouth. With the light on shore wind surfing conditions were clean and glassy most of the morning.
Weather wise today we did have some early morning cloud cover that hung around most of the morning. Right now at 3.45pm the temperature is still a warm 31 degrees Celsius, Humidity is at 75%. Wind direction has now dedicated to the ESE at a fresh 10-12knot.
The tide, currently on the bottom of a reef exposing 0.2mtr Low.
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is calling for another spike in wave height on a 18-19 second period so that should make it pretty big. The wind is also predicted to be fresh out of the E-ESE but I’d expect lighter wind early.
