BALI SURF & WEATHER REPORT
10th – 12th June 2021
Hello Bali people and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves (the original Bali surf report website since 1999, for surfers by surfers) We hope everyone is doing the best they can in order to get this crazy World back on track and life and lifes back to where they were before this pandemic began. I’m sure you all know that Bali’s most well know area’s namely Kuta / Legian are still like ghost towns with most doors closed and way too many for sale / rent signs on display.
Here in Tuban just to the South of Kuta is also barren of tourism and also doing it very tough. Usually all the guest hous and Home stay’s are all doing well. But the last year and a half they are all empty, including our place. If any of our friends out there can spare us a dollar it would shore make a big difference for my family. If you can please click this link to get to our PayPal link or contact us directly, Thank You.
Hey well I’ve spent the last 2 out of 3 days out in the boat trying to keep my family and friends in our lane feed. I haven’t done too bad with some fat Tuna and a small Spaniard. I’ve also got to have a good look at all breaks between Kuta reef and Uluwatu. On the 10th we did see a nice little pulse start to show with some solid over head 4-4ft+ waves breaking on Uluwatu. The best waves I saw on the way home was cruising in close by Balangan to see some clean, fast peeling waves off the point with only maybe 10 surfers spread through the line up. Then back here on our home break of Middle Reef (nestled between Kuta Reef and Airport left) also had some very nice waves peeling off. It was more wind affected at Middle Reef with maybe 15-17 surfers in the water.
Yesterday the 11th and we had more clean and tidy waves breaking on the Outer reefs here in Tuban. Wave height was again in the head to well over head high with Middle Reef looking the best on the afternoon high tide. The 11th also had fresh off shore wind blowing out of the ESE.
This morning the 12th I thought I had better get out and shoot some more fresh photos for the baliwaves, as I had better get back out in the boat again tomorrow. Normally these days I usually wouldn’t be out fishing as often but my family needs fresh food and there are bills to be paid. It makes all pretty hard and frustrating with no income due to the zero tourism here in Tuban, so fishing it is.
But down at Uluwatu this morning as it shows in the latest photos I shot there were still some solid double head high set waves hitting the Main Peak at Ulu. The tide was still running up when I first set up and there were a few (two that I witnessed) tube rides in the semi glassy conditions. The ESE Trade wind hadn’t kicked in while I was down there (8.30 – 11.00am) so the wind was swinging about the compass like a drunken sailor. Crowd wise there was a solid number of up to 30 – 40 on The Peak at first but by 11.00am the number was down to maybe 15.
The next tide today here on the West Coast of Bali will be a 0.2mtr Low around 5.15pm
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is saying that we can expect wave height to hold through the day before starting to back off on the 14th. The further out we should see another bump in wave height on the 16th and then a bigger swell rolling in the 18th. There’s also another good looking wave producing system a little further out in the Indian Ocean.
On the Bali Corona Virus situation against most beliefs the number of new cases in Bali are still much lower than a month or so ago when we were seeing up to 200 new cases per day. This is amazing with the national number increasing by up to 2,000 new cases per day. We can only hope that Bali is missing this surge in new cases. Even so, I’m personally seeing domestic flights from mostly Jakarta arriving non stop to Bali’s domestic airport. Plus on the road there are very large percentage of non Bali issued number plates indicating a lot more arrivals by road and ferry into Bali.
Bali has been pushing the vaccination program to the general public since the end of March. But still only around 700,000 of the population of Bali have received their full vaccination. The good news is that the President of Indonesia has committed to pushing the vaccination program out to 1 million jabs per day by the end of July. There is still no concrete plans to re open Bali’s international airport to proposed “green zones” as yet, although the local Bali Government is still pushing for a re opening in July.
Ok friends stay tuned to our Instagram and Facebook pages for more news and up dates and I’ll do my best to keep the Bali surf and weather video clips flowing.
