Bali Surf & Weather report
22nd – 23rd September 2021
Hello everyone and thanks for staying in touch with your No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali through us here at baliwaves.com. It’s been a very up and down last 22 months since we haven’t had our regular native English-speaking guests and visitors from Australia / America / NZ and England due to the pandemic. Hopefully that is going to change soon the way the World vaccination programs have been running. We really want to Thank all our friends and supporters for all the help that you have given us to help get us this far, we are almost through this. Please don’t give up on us through this last leg of “containment” So if you could spare a dollar or two (every dollar makes a difference) then hit this link https://www.baliwaves.com/2020/08/baliwaves-needs-your-support/
Hi everyone tuning in for the latest surfing news from here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali. Well unfortunately still no change in the dire circumstance of Bali’s once thriving tourist area’s of Tuban, Kuta & Legian. But everyone is just doing their best to try and stay alive and families feed.
Surf wise here on the Outer Reefs of Tuban wave height has dropped away and yesterday was down in the 1-2ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The good old ESE-SE Tradewind has been doing it’s best with gusts up into the 25knot+ class. It is still today eerie just how quite the road that runs down to the beach just is and all the warungs and little cafes that would normally be all serving up their best to International visitors from all over the World, boarded up and empty.
Today the 23rd and with wave height still down I thought I had better thake a run down to Uluwatu, Bali’s wave magnet location that put Bali on the map. Driving in past Padang Padang and Impossibles and looking out from the Padang Padang bridge. Wave height at the top end of Impossible’s was pretty much just lapping onto the reef.So put Padang Padang down for being flat.
As always when it’s too small or too windy between Uluwatu and Canggu you can always expect a big crowd at Uluwatu to lap up the last scraps of swell. Even in this pandemic situation today was no different at Uluwatu. With 60-70 surfers (a large % being learners of all level). in the mostly 2-3ft waves breaking on the Main Peak and Temple sections. I even saw a couple of freak sets in the over head class hitting the Peak, but few and far between.
Temple’s looked to be getting consistent fun head high waves coming through with a way smaller crew than the Peak. While the Peak was a bit of a free for all with boards and bodies going left and right. Even with so many surfers in the water at Uluwatu the weird thing is that all the warungs remain empty.
Normally at Uluwatu if there are that many surfers in the line up you can expect all the warungs busy cooking meals and providing cool drinks. I haven’t seen any of the “massage ladies” that would normally be selling Uluwatu tee shirts, caps and all the other trinkets for almost 2 years now. The place just isn’t the same with out these things and I’m sure if you were here to see it you would also be in sad agreement. The tourists we have at present are more your “Canggu style” trendy cafe / restaurant type, not the type that get down in the sand with the locals.
Surfing conditions were pretty good with the cliff’s of Uluwatu providing a little more shelter from the strong off shore wind.
Weather wise today there has been some cloud drifting by here on the Southern end of the island but all in it’s been mostly just another hot and sunny day for Bali.
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is looking pretty much the same as today with waves in the -3ft class at the better know locations and more fresh off shore ESE wind.
That’s about me for today friends and hopefully it is only a matter of months before all our friends can get back here to their favorite surfing holiday destination, Bali.
Ok we really need to give our heartfelt deepest Thanks to everyone who has helped us continue to survive over here with no income of our own for the best part of 2 years. Hopefully we are getting through the worst of things, fingers crossed I guess because we have been saying that since day 1. Maybe 2022 will see the return of visitors to Bali with the World vaccination program making good progress. So Thanks folks for helping us get this far and not too much further to go
So please if any of our friends can spare a dollar or two or order an original baliwaves tee shirt (also now in long sleeve) you would not only be helping my family out but also others in the production sequence. https://www.baliwaves.com/2021/06/help-baliwaves-get-through-the-bali-corona-virus-cash-flow-crisis-with-a-rp90000-original-baliwaves-tee-shirt/

You get all the benefits of our un biased knowledge of surf / fishing information. Plus get to eat real Balinese food from one of the best Balinese / Indonesian chefs on the island (my wife) as guests at our table.
