Hi everyone, Lots of waves around Bali again and yesterday we were down on the Southern end of the island trying to get out of the strong off shore wind. As it shows in our photo gallery wave height was a fun sized 2-4ft with a fresh off shore ESE wind. Our late afternoon surf check on the Outer reefs here in South Kuta was also only showing wave height in the 1-3ft class between Kuta reef and Airport left.
So while we were still waiting for some swell to arrive we headed back down to Uluwatu this morning around 6.30am (2nd July). We did get stuck in the car park for 10 minutes while we waited for the rain to end so we could get the camera gear down into position. The tide was starting to run in but still low enough for the Racetrack to be dishing out some nice long rides. As the tide kept filling in it wasn’t long before we started to see some signs of our new swell starting to arrive. In the way of double to triple head high plus sets hitting the Main Peak.
That helped to keep the push in crowd down and some seriously good surfing take place. I haven’t had a chance to download today’s photos and video yet but stay tuned to the baliwaves cause it’s coming. Temple’s was also looking good but with some seriously long sections shutting down and also much more suited to the experienced surfers. We hung out at Uluwatu until after midday and I was surprised to see the crowd dropping off as the tide filled in and also our usually busy warung (Surya) almost empty.
Weather wise as I mentioned we did get some early morning rain and then again another 10 minutes worth around 9.00am. Right now at 4.30pm the temp is on 28C and the Humidity at 84% on a mostly clear sky. Wind direction is fresh out of the SE at 20knot+
Tomorrows surf forecast is calling for more swell to flood onto Bali’s reefs on a 20 second period. I’ll be going down for another surf check later this arvo. We can also expect a the wind to be lighter early before the Trade wind kicks in by midmorning.
