Hi friends we really want to thank everyone who has helped us get through the pandemic and total lack of income. I’m so happy to see the speed at which Bali is coming back into swing again. But baliwaves needs camera equipment to carry on, usually we upgrade / burn out our old gear around every 4 yrs. This time round we went 6yrs and were very lucky to get through. But hopefully (fingers crossed) we are on track and on the come back trail again. Please don’t give up on us through this as hopefully we are on the last leg. If you could spare a dollar or two (every dollar makes a difference) then hit this link https://www.baliwaves.com/2020/08/baliwaves-needs-your-support/
Please don’t hesitate to drop us an email for any Bali surf or accommodation info and we’ll do our best to help out.
This mornings 6.45am surf check on the Outer Reefs was showing that wave height had as predicted taken another drop in wave height. Only 2-3ft+ on the bottom of the tide breaking between Kuta reef and Airport left. The wind was also light and variable out of the Northern quadrant. Middle Reef was picking up the bigger set waves but I was shocked to hear that there were almost 50 surfers out there.
So as it shows in today’s photo gallery we took advantage of the Northerly wind and made our way up to Canggu. It’s been a month or so since our last visit up to the always popular destination and not much had changed. The tide was a bit low at first for the right hander in front of the Pererenan river mouth. So the main focus was on the left hander that breaks over the sandbar section. Crowd there would have been close to 30 surfers on the left and as the tide started to push in around 15 on the right.
Lots of construction still going on with all the “new” warungs around 50% finished. I think there will be some noticeable changes in the warungs along with pricing when they are finished. Time will tell.
Weather wise we got off to a nice start early but it wasn’t long before a blanket of cloud rolled in. Right now at 1.15pm the temperatures still a warm and overcast 29C. Humidity levels are at 80% and the wind is out of the SSW at 5-7knt.
The next tide today in Bali will be a 0.4mtr Low at 5.10pm
Tomorrows Surf Forecast has the wave height models calling for wave height to remain similar to today’s size and the wind is predicted to be a little more from the SSE quadrant.
It certainly is that time of the year again. Going into the transition from dry to wet season, not that I can really say it has been a dry season with the amount of rain that has been falling all year. The wet season is not so straight forward when it comes to regular wind direction ie the Trade wind. The next few months we will see the wind swing all over the compass and a little more tricky in finding the best waves to suit.
Ok thanks again for dropping into the baliwaves, stay tuned through out the weekend for more news and views from right here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali.
We have also added some boardshorts and trucker caps into our original baliwaves surf wear page so check it out and order up some quality made apparel exclusive to baliwaves.

Breaking News Department. Petrol has jumped 30% in price from the 4th of September so be prepared for slight increases in all prices on just about everything here in Bali. The first of the increases was LPG, our 12kg refill’s have gone from Rp135K now at 230K for the same fill. 95% of Indonesia runs on gas for cooking so that’s going to hurt everyone.
