G’day Bali surfers and thanks for checking out the baliwaves for the latest news and best views fresh out of the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination. Ok, well today I have the luxury of a little more time to type up a little more complete report for you. You see this morning our plans for the pre dawn surf assault was cancelled due to the weather we were dealt.
Last night the rain started and just got heavier and heavier through out the night and was still drumming down on the roof when we called off today’s mission. While I’m on the rain thing I will say that there was some terrible flooding up in the Medewi area of Bali over night. 1 bridge collapsed severing the main traffic artery between Gilimanuk and Java. I’ve also heard of flooded house holds with a couple of feet of water inside.
Today’s photo gallery features photos from Balian on the 16th and Uluwatu yesterday the 17th. AS it shows at both locations wave height has still only been pretty small at best with dark overcast weather for the most of it. It was that dark down at Uluwatu yesterday that it was impossible to shoot any photos until around 8.30am. You can see the blur in a couple of the photos from a super low shutter speed.
This morning’s surf check while bailing out the rain water from our boat (half full) was only showing wave height in the 1-2ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport left. Hardly anything breaking on Kuta and Middle Reefs but there was a couple of 2 footers hitting Airport left. There was also around 25 surfers out there.
Weather wise right now here in South Kuta at 11.30am has the temperature on 28C with the humidity at 92%. Cloudy and grey with the promise of more rain to come today for sure. Wind direction is out of the South at 3-5knt.
The next tide today in Bali will be a 1.5mtr High at 1.40pm
Tomorrow’s surf forecast has the models showing a very slight bump in in size with early morning light and variable wind.
Ok that’s us from Bali today but stay tuned and hopefully we will get back out there again tomorrow. Thanks for your support.
We have also added some boardshorts and trucker caps into our original baliwaves surf wear page so check it out and order up some quality made apparel exclusive to baliwaves.

Breaking News Department. Petrol has jumped 30% in price from the 4th of September so be prepared for slight increases in all prices on just about everything here in Bali. The first of the increases was LPG, our 5kg refills have gone from Rp135K now at 230K for the same fill. 95% of Indonesia runs on gas for cooking so that’s going to hurt everyone.
