Hello Bali lovers and thanks again for taking the time out to see how the surf is really like here on your first choice tropical surfing holiday destination. Well today’s photo gallery was shot yesterday the 4th here on Bali’s West Coast. I didn’t get a chance to load them up as I was out with my son in our old traditional double out rigger chasing schools of “Jack” fish out behind the reefs here in South Kuta. Great work from Ray landing a a very nice (7.8kg) fishy we will be eating like kings tonight.
As it shows in the photos the early morning conditions have been well suited to the black sand beach of Pererenan. Thanks to a light Northerly wind that blows off shore through until around 9.00am which is normal for this time of the year. With a low number of surfers in the water up there also until around 9.00am makes it worth driving up there early and then getting out before the crowds both on land and in water take over, not too mention the traffic problems in the area.
Weather wise yesterday is was very hot and steamy on land but nice and cool out in the boat through the late afternoon. We were also treated to a very visual Thunder and lightning storm up along the coast between Tabanan and Canggu.
Today the 5th and surf wise it was almost the same as yesterday with that early morning light Northerly breeze. We were almost tempted to take a run further up the coast to Balian but with the storms raging in that direction we didn’t want to chance the long drive to see dirty water flushing out of the rivers. So instead we opted back to the black sand of Pererenan. Wave height at the Gu this morning had taken a small drop in size but was still a nice 2-3ft+. Today’s photos are still on the card and I’ll get to them shortly.
On the weather scene today it’s been another very hot and humid one here along Bali’s West Coast. Right now at 2.00pm the temp is on 32C but it does feel more like 36C, humidity is up at 76%. Wind direction is and has been out of the South since mid morning.
Tomorrows surf forecast has the models showing pretty much exactly the same amount of swell as today. The wind is also “predicted” to more gusty out of the SE-SSE.
Ok thanks again I better get out and clean up our BBQ grill for this evenings feast. Back tomorrow with more of the best views and latest news from Bali again tomorrow.
I do have to say that no matter how many people try to claim they have curbed the pollution problem flowing out of the rivers into the ocean it’s still really bad out behind the waves. Out for an afternoon fish the last few days it has been very sad to see so much single use plastic food and house hold products wrapping in the water. Even though there are still large plastic “shopping” bags available you don’t see them in the water. It’s the small noodle style plastic containers that are the No.1 offender I’ve noticed. I’d say this Dec and Jan we are going to be seeing the usual amounts of plastic washing up on the beaches as we always do each year when the wind turns hard out of the West..
G20 awareness for everyone here in Bali over the next couple off weeks be prepared for traffic diversions and delays with some roads and access closed off. So please allow a little extra time for any travel and I would be avoiding the Nusa Dua area for sure.
Breaking News Department. Petrol has jumped 30% in price from the 4th of September so be prepared for slight increases in all prices on just about everything here in Bali. The first of the increases was LPG, our 12kg refills have gone from Rp135K now at 230K for the same fill. 95% of Indonesia runs on gas for cooking so that’s going to hurt everyone. Everyone that is that’s not using US, Euro, GP or AU dollars that is.
