Hello friends and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves again. Well to be honest not a lot has been happening the last couple of days. and we are not going to be getting any new pulses of swell untill at least the 25th / 26th. So kinda stuck in the small “fun” sized waves for a few more days yet.
This morning Ketut took a run over to Keramas hoping to find a few waves and some surfers doing them justice. Arriving around 7.45am with an in coming tide to find 15-20 surfers in the water and wave height in the 2-3ft+ range (that’s chest to slightly over head for you newbs) The wind was still light and variable so conditions were clean and glassy. As today’s gallery reflects it was pretty slow going and Ketut pulled the plug after an hour or so when the wind shifted to the W-WSW with gusto.
Weather wise it’s a nice Sunny Sunday here on the holiday island and right now at 3.15pm it’s 32C with humidity at 70%, it actually feels about 40C. Wind direction is still coming out of the WSW at 8-12knt.
The next tide today in Bali will be a 0.5mtr Low at 4,26pm
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is calling for yep you guessed it, wave height to continue in it’s current downward trend. While the wind is predicted to be light and variable through the morning before dedicating to the W-SW after lunch.
Last night my family and I took a walk up to Kuta for something cost effective. As we come off the beach near the Hard Rock Cafe it looked pretty busy with a lot of people traffic. But as we hit the street it was clear that it was 95% domestic tourists and hardly a westerner to be seen. The beach front along Kuta was busy. Until we turned into the once very bright and busy Poppies Lane 1.
In my honest opinion it has not recovered at all, sad to see a lot of the shops still closed or in very bad condition, to the extent of needing to be pulled down. Around 50% of the small art market shops were open but no business to be seen. Except for a few small bars with hard core looking drinkers sitting behind rows of empty bintangs. It’s sad to see such an iconic part of Bali in such bad shape, especially after such a big influx of tourists since Bali re opened.
