Hello Bali people and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves to see what’s happening over here in Bali. Well yesterday the 14th and it was great to have the sun back out and some fun little waves to go with it. We left home around 6.30am yesty and with the low tide approaching we though we would check out one of our fav low kep options. On arrival it was looking pretty good with waves in the head to well over head high class. There were already maybe 20 surfers and mostly long boarders in the water but we were still pretty keen seeing as though there wasn’t many getting ridden.
We were just about to commit when there was a steady flow of full cars arriving one after the other so we dashed back to our secondary plan B. WE ended up at Keramas and it was nice to see only 10 surfers in the water and some fun little 2-3 footers with a more clean off shore wind. I’d say the tidal info would have turned a few off and there wasn’t any boyfriend / girlfriend combinations due to Valentines Day. So as it shows in the photo gallery every now and again there were some nice ones lining up over the lava flow ocean floor of Keramas. As the tide started to fill in there were a lot more surfers starting to show up. We had already had our fun and it wasn’t long after 10.am that the wind switched to the WSW bringing fresh on shore wind and rain.
Weather wise it was a top morning over on the East Coast that lasted through until around 10.00am. The cloud continued to keep stacking up back home on the West side and sometime through last night I woke up to the sound of pounding rain and strong wind. Right now at 11.15am (14th) it’s still grey and gloomy outside and probably more rain to come before days end.
This mornings 8.00am surf check (after the rain) on the Outer Reefs of South Kuta was showing some fair sized waves in the 2-4ft and maybe even a little bigger on Middle Reef. The wet season still has a few more weeks to run and the wind out there this morning is still fresh out of the West. News in from the East Coast this morning also has wave height up a foot or two on yesterday with a solid crowd in the water where we were yesterday.
The Tide has just passed through the bottom of a 0.9mtr Low and the next High Tide scheduled to peak at 2.0mtrs / 5.19pm.
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is calling for wave height to hold and just tapering off a little throughout the day. The wind is also looking ok with light and variable WNW wind predicted through until late morning then dedicating to the WSW – SW for the rest of the day.
Ok crew thanks again, we should be back out there again tomorrow so stay tuned to the baliwaves on FB and Insta for more news and photos as we get em. I have loaded a 1 wave 4K video clip onto our facebook page already this morning and will feed a couple more up throughout the day.
