Hello all you awesome supporters and lovers of Bali ! Just a quicky today as I am running a bit late, nothing unusual hey. It’s now 12.50 and I have to be up in Seminyak at 2.00pm for a meeting and something exciting for everyone. Especially those that tune in regularly. You guys are going to be competing for a pair of new sunglasses every month as a new show of appreciation from us and the guys and girls at Kolab Indonesia (formerly Carve). So let me get on with it, yesterday as it shows in the photos there were some nice waves hitting Keramas yesterday with only 15-20 surfers in the line up.
Today the 10th (Happy Birthday to my son Wayan Ray turning 15 today) and there isn’t much happening for any real surfers in Bali today. But for the groups of learners in leotards and boardshorts over the top it would be looking fantastic I reckon. I’ll try and get down to the reefs this afternoon and load up a quick (wobbly) video clip report on the facebok page ok It was light off shore out of the East earlier but I’m been stuck in front of the screen for a few hours now and just about burnt out. Have a great day and weekend and as soon as there are some new waves we will be all over it. Tomorrow I will try and get a new 4K video spliced up for the baliwaves.com so stay tuned.
Weather wise it’s hot and mostly sunny with some cloud starting to move in out of the SSE.
Gotta run
Long Range Surf, finally we are seeing some better swell generating systems moving up through the Indian ocean without the hinderance of T/C’s chopping it up. The modals I’m using are calling for a nice medium to moderate swell reaching Bali on the 14th and peaking through the 15 – 16th. So get those plane tickets booked and lock in your accommodation with us asap.
Scam tips; This is not a massive issue but just one to be aware of if you use taxi’s here in Bali. Over the last 5yrs just before the pandemic I had some issues with taxi’s and their “meters” that had been tampered with. Totally obvious when you see a taxi meter ticking over every few second. Last night we were coming home from Kuta and the standard fare is always (since the petrol price hike) is Rp25-30K. Our fare was double that last night and it did seem odd that the driver was rambling on about nothing the whole ride, keeping us distracted. I did pull him up when we got out and he, the driver just grinned. At least with a fast ticking meter it was obvious, the slower doctored meter is going to catch a lot of people. Please beware or just don’t care, the choice is yours.
If anyone of our regulars has an old GoPro at home they would like to donate to us at baliwaves we would be forever grateful. I did have a GoPro 7 but last year the rubber seal covering the on/off button perished and is now not water tight.
