G’day surfers and Bali lovers and thanks again for stopping by the baliwaves for our latest news and the best views of surfing and weather conditions. From right here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination of Bali. Right, yesterday the 8th and we were (as usual) on the road and on the wave hunt long before the day’s dawn. Arriving to greet the rising sun and some very nice fun sized waves in the 2-4ft range with an equally welcomed light off shore wind. We were a little sad that there was no other surfers in sight, not. Managing to rack up an hours worth of waves before a few more surfers turned up around 7.00am. At the peak of the crowd there was still only around 25 in total and everyone nice and friendly. 2 sessions later and as we left Barrack Beach there were still sa few tasty waves but the tide was a bit fat and the wind slight on shore out of the WSW.
Today the 9th and I had to hang around and drop a couple of friends off at the airport this morning but I did manage a quick drive by past Kuta beach. Looking back at Kuta Reef it looked like there was a few waves hitting the reefs here in South Kuta. To make it even a little bit more exciting it looked like the wind was in deed light off shore out of the NE. While I was doing that our man Ketut had the camera gear set up over on the East coast at Keramas. He should be back home shortly and he did text through calling clean and glassy waves in the head to over head high range. At the time he mentioned of 115 surfers in the water with a run in tide.
Weather wise here in Bali this morning and it’s another classic Bali weather day. The kind your hoping for when on a vacation and looking for hitting the beach. Right now at 11.20am the sky is a real nice deep sky blue with just a few puffs of cloud starting to drift into the far South Eastern end of the island. Temperature wise the mercury is that perfect 30C, humidity is sitting around 76%. Earlier the wind was light and variable and now coming lightly out of the West at 12-14km/h. The longer range wind forecast is already showing more E-ENE wind heading our way over the next 7 days.
The next tide today will be a 2.4mtr High happening right now.
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is saying we will have some more fun sized waves slowly tapering off through out the day. Wind wise more light and variable direction early before dedicating to the SSE mid afternoon.
Long Range Surf, finally we are seeing some better swell generating systems moving up through the Indian ocean without the hinderance of T/C’s chopping it up. The modals I’m using are calling for a nice medium to moderate swell reaching Bali on the 14th and peaking through the 15 – 16th. So get those plane tickets booked and lock in your accommodation with us asap.
Scam tips; This is not a massive issue but just one to be aware of if you use taxi’s here in Bali. Over the last 5yrs just before the pandemic I had some issues with taxi’s and their “meters” that had been tampered with. Totally obvious when you see a taxi meter ticking over every few second. Last night we were coming home from Kuta and the standard fare is always (since the petrol price hike) is Rp25-30K. Our fare was double that last night and it did seem odd that the driver was rambling on about nothing the whole ride, keeping us distracted. I did pull him up when we got out and he, the driver just grinned. At least with a fast ticking meter it was obvious, the slower doctored meter is going to catch a lot of people. Please beware or just don’t care, the choice is yours.
If anyone of our regulars has an old GoPro at home they would like to donate to us at baliwaves we would be forever grateful. I did have a GoPro 7 but last year the rubber seal covering the on/off button perished and is now not water tight.
