Yesterday the 27th and it was nice to sleep in, or try to at least. I made it till 6.00am before I had to get up and though how good is today going to be just lazing around the home with maybe a home cooked lunch, yeah / nah. Well at least I made it down to the beach for a surf check around 8.00am and hang out with my crew for an hour (video surf report on baliwaves / facebook) Just for the record there were a few nice waves breaking between Kuta reef and Airport Left in the 3-5ft class. Middle Reef was drawing in the bigger waves while the tide was still on the bottom of the low. There was no shortage of learners and surf schools and no shortage of blood soaked carnage to go with it.
AS you and I can imagine (not sure why the learners can not image though) with kooks throwing boards left right and center people are going to get hurt in tight packed line ups over living coral reef. I actually never saw the resulting carnage but my local reef taxi mates filled me in this morning and by the sound of it lucky no one was more seriously hurt. But it’s also good for the local Dr’s economy as well I guess. Oh yeah did I mention day of leisure at home ? didn’t happen I found so many odd jobs to do from repairing the refrigerator, along with some fiber glassing, lawn, etc etc that took me through until late arvo. All good today should be a lot easier..
This morning the 28th and I’ve not long returned from the beach and the usual morning surf check. Well usual when we are not off on the road, surf tripping at 5.00am anyway. This morning wave height here on the West Coast seems to have backed off down into the 2-4ft range. Early the wind was light on shore out of the West but still a few waves between Kuta reef and Airports. Middle Reef was picking up the slightly over head set waves while Kuta reef and Airports looked to be head high at best.
Around 9.30am the wind did swing to the SE but even now at 11.00am it’s still only light. Plenty more learners on mid length to long boards turning up while I was down the beach so it might be another day of board dodging for those brave enough to take it on.
Weather wise it’s an over cast morning after a night of scattered showers here in South Kuta. Temperature wise now at 11.00am it’s a sultry 29C with the humidity at 82% Wind wise I’m calling light and variable out of the Southern quadrant.
The next tide today with be a 1.92mtr High at 2.42pm.
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is predicting wave height on the downward slide through out today, leveling off tomorrow. The period is jumping tomorrow afternoon 12 seconds to 16-19 seconds so if it’s legit possible another bump in wave height tomorrow afternoon.
Traffic up date, Hopefully by the end of the weekend all roads should be back to normal. Already a lot better now with school resuming on the 26th just gone.
