Today’s photo gallery is from our session on the black sanded beach a couple of days ago. We were not expecting to find 4ft set waves but that’s what we got. Some perfect left and rights as it shows in these photos.
Yesterday the 27th and with wave height right down at the bare minimal range we jumped back in the van and made our way back up to Balian. In my opinion no where else in Bali gets as much swell as Balian attracts onto it’s A frame left and right peak. There are a couple of other sections right there as well. Yesterday was no different. Wave height on our late afternoon surf check on the Outer reefs was only showing 1-1ft+ between Kuta reef and Airport left. So we figured we would see 2-4 footers at Balian and that’s how it was. Clean clear water with around 25 surfers scattered through the different sections with surfing conditions clean and glassy through until around 9.00am.
Today the 28th and not quite feeling the drive back up the West Coast we decided to take a run down to Indonesia’s premier surfing location of Uluwatu. Parts of Uluwatu is like a war zone at the moment with quite a few warungs being totally renovated and still a few months before ready to serve. When we got our first glimpse of the Uluwatu surfing arena this morning it wasn’t looking real good. Only 1-2ft+ breaking between the Racetrack and Temple’s and maybe a crew of 40-50 surfers in the water. So we decided to grab a table and sample the breakfast menu at “Jeffrys” warung. Well the smell of the espresso drew us in to tell the truth. It was a good call if not a little noisy from some loud guests.
After we had finished a nice healthy brekky and quite content it was starting to look ok out on the Peak with some 3-3ft+ sets starting to break just before the bottom of the mid range low tide. But by that time the crowd had jumped to almost double so we chilled out and enjoyed the view before pulling the plug and heading back home.
Weather wise today it’s been another beautiful day here on the holiday island of Bali. Right now at 2.10pm it is a warm 29C with the humidity at 67%. Wind direction is coming fresh out of the SE-ESE at 25km/h.
The next tide today in Bali will be a 1.71mtr High at 3.50pm
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is calling for wave height to be a touch smaller with the period dropping from 14 seconds down to 12 seconds. More fresh SE-ESE wind that will be increasing in strength through out the day.
Ok crew thanks again from dropping in and I’ll have a bit more time on my hands tomorrow and will be trying to get a new video clip sliced up for you featuring some nice waves from this month. Have an awesome day and catch ya’s tomorrow.
Oh yeah we also have another tropical paradise hide away property on offer in the Mentawai islands. For anyone interested you can see the details here
