Yesterday the 30th and it was a pretty wild drive over to the East Coast to our Primary destination. We did have a little bit of light rain over hight here in South Kuta but as we neared Sanur the heavens really opened up and smashed us with heavy rain. Lucky for us it did back off and clear up a little the further North we traveled. So we were stoked to pull into the little known Keramas car park away from the glitz and beautiful people of the resort to find some fun looking head to almost double head high waves.
Surfing conditions were super clean and tidy with a light off shore Northerly breeze. There were a few surfers in the water but no locals spotted. The waves were just rolling through and I never really saw any solid barrels while we were on the scene through out the high tide and falling down through to mid. By 9.00am the sun was out and beating down on everyone with the wind just starting to drop off before tending SE around the same time.
Today the 1st of July and this month has started off with some heavy over night rain rolling through into today. Right now at 10.20am it’s still grey and overcast, not raining right now but I wouldn’t rule out a few drops more before the end of the day. Our good friend Andy called in from where he is over on the East side confirming fresh on shore SE wind and heavy rain over there. A good reason for us to stay home and catch up a little on our photo 0ver load and generally justly goof off for a change. I wouldn’t be surprised if the wind shifted around to the WSW before the end of the day.
Here on the West Coast our 7.00am surf check on the Outer Reefs of Tuban / South Kuta wasn’t looking real appealing either. Wave height between Kuta reef and Airport Left was only showing in the 2-3ft+ sector. Wind direction was fresh and gusty off shore out of the SE. More incentive to give it a miss today and recharge for tomorrow.
The next tide today here in Bali will be a 0.38mtr Low at 3.25pm
