Yesterday the 7th we were still positive that we could find a few waves still hitting the black sand, and there was. We were the first ones on the scene and it was looking pretty good in the 3-4ft range. We even had a light off shore breeze on our side. Alas, all good things never last for ever and after an hour of only 3 surfers in the water we were joined by a couple of learner groups from Japan and Korea. But our crew had already had a good run of waves and already clocked up more than enough fun. So we hit the shore and called it a morning and started making our plans for the next day.
Today the 8th and I had to do a double check the the wave model I use was in fact calling for a slight early morning bump in wave height. So we put our faith in it and made our way to the waves hoping to arrive just after the dawn. We were stoked to find an empty line up with 2-4ft waves peeling off. So the boys didn’t need any prompting to haul ass out there before yesterday’s crew arrived. I was a bit worries about the wind kicking in early and by 8.30am it was already starting to puff out of the South. Super nice clean conditions early and the bump in wave height didn’t hold either. But I do have to say there were still some 3-4 footers breaking as we made our way back to the car park, although the wind was fresh on shore by then.
Weather wise it’s been a hot and sunny Sunday here on the holiday island. Right now at 3.30pm the temp is still a warm 31C with the humidity at 69%. Wind direction is currently out of the SE at 25km/h.
The next tide today in Bali will be a 1.31mtr High at 4.09pm. Only small tidal ranges as we move into the middle of the moon phase.
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is calling for wave height to continue on the downward trend. The wave period also confirms it dropping from today’s 16-17 seconds down to 14-13 seconds tomorrow. More early easterly wind before increasing in strength and tending more SE by mid morning.
