Yesterday the 12th we thought there might still be enough swell to sneak in a few uncrowded waves at one of our favorite locations. Arriving just after the dawn, it’s getting harder to beat the dawn at the moment with the sky already starting to show signs of sunrise at 5.30am. No sign of any other surfers in sight and we could see some chest to over head high waves peeling off. Surfing conditions were clean and tidy with only just a faint off shore breeze. So for the next hour and a half Mick had to surf by himself, while I’m still out on Dr’s orders. It was hard to take. But there was still plenty to be done on shore.
The day before there was a big ceremony at this location and with a big crowd in attendance there is always going to be a lot of rubbish left behind. So with the help from “Andy”, Made Aru along with the local warung father and son team we set to work to make our beach clean again, and did. A handful of surfers turned up later and they looked to be enjoying themselves as well. Even though the wind had already shifted to the SSE-SE and the tide filled in.
Today the 13th (Friday) and Ketut had a call out to Airport Right to shoot some photos and check out what was happening on all of the Outer reef iconic locations. Wave height out there this morning was in the 2-3ft or waist to head high range. Airport left was looking the best as the tide was filling in and there were 30 surfers out there. Middle Reef was filling in being better on the lower end of the tide spectrum, still there was at least 15 surfers there. Kuta Reef which is the most popular when it’s this size had around 40 surfers and mostly learners and surf schools. Airport Right was only picking up waist to chest high waves with a total of 10 surfers.
Weather wise this morning it’s a hot and sunny Friday here on the holiday island. Right now at 12.15pm its a very warm 32C, humidity is at 63%. Wind direction has been fresh ESE – SE but now tending SSE at 14km/h
The next tide today in Bali will be a 0.33mtr Low at 3.44pm
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is showing wave height to tapering off through out the day. The wave period also reflects this dropping from 15 seconds today down to 13 seconds tomorrow. Early morning light and variable wind before turning East and then further into the Southern quadrant.
