G’day surfers and I hope everyone is or has been having a good one today. Yesterday the 18th I was up at 3.30am getting enough coffee into me for the long and dangerous West side highway. We did call into Balian on the way hoping for clean water and good waves. Nah, it was easy to see how the water quality was going to be everytime we crossed a river. There was a few waves and one lone bodyboarder in the water. We drove on.
Medewi looked very different with clean water and even with a light off shore wind. We were in luck. With the mid range Low tide in effect it had most of the learners still sipping their latte’s and waiting for the tide to start coming in. But there were already 3 other surfers in the water and some fun little waves in the 2-4ft class. Our crew was in and out with precision timing before it was time for the learners.
Today the 19th and we knew it wasn’t going to be easy to find good waves today, so the trick was to find a wave today. Our first stop (6.15am) was at “Secrets” over on the East coast but it was just a touch to small. So from there we went a bit further up to “Car Parks” where there was a 1-3ft right hander with half a dozen surfers in the water. Clean little waves with a light off shore wind.
Weather wise yesterday was mostly overcast both ways up and back. While today has been a beauty with a mostly blue sky all day. Right now at 5.25pm the temperature is still a very warm 30C, humidity is at 75%. Wind direction is WSW at 25km/h.
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is calling for pretty much the same size swell as today. Just for the record we still have that large T/L spinning down under Indo. But it is slowly tracking out into the middle of the Indian.
Alrighty then that’s us for another day in Bali. Stay tuned right here for the latest news and best views directly out of the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination. Watch out for tomorrow’s Surf & Weather video report tomorrow morning on our faceplant page.
