MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Hello surfers and I’m glad to have ya’s on board for the baliwaves.com
SUNDAY SESSION . Well it all started at 6.00am for me this morning when one of our guests here at Home Base started knocking on my door. Telling me the boat was waiting to take us around to Airport Rights . Not even time for a cup of coffee. Anyway the tide was still running up for a 1.8mtr High happening at 7.00am and the wind was only just present coming outta the West at 1knot . Pretty good conditions for the right hander so away we went. Our boat driver took us out past Kuta Reef and we were almost even tempted to jump off there. Even though wave height had dropped off a touch more over night Kuta Reef was still looking fun at 2-3ft . And there were only 6 surfers out there at the time. Middle Reef was breaking at Head High but there was still a bit too much water over the reef, no surfers in the line up yet. Airport left also had a few nicely shaped waist to head high waves breaking for the half a dozen early risers out there. As we rounded the airport runway and got insight of Airport Right I was surprised to see a couple of set waves roll through in the 3-4ft range. But we were not the only ones there. There were already something like 25 surfers scattered through the line up, but there was plenty of waves coming through. Anyway after only 4 waves my leg rope snapped and I spent the next 20 minutes swimming. By the time I finally got my board back the tide was already dropping and I didn’t want to risk losing it again. That woulda involved walking over the reef without any reef boots on my feet. So it was back to the boat for me. Our man Scott. T. was also around there with us and these are a few of the photos he managed to shoot. Coming back home past Middle Reef the number of surfers in the water had jumped from 0 to 30, but Middle Reef is at it’s best while the tide is running out. Weather wise today around Tuban we’ve got more of that high thin cloud hanging about with the odd patch of blue sky. Heading for holiday temperature of around 30 degree’s Celsius. I was just wearing board shorts for this mornings surf and the water temp was fine around the 23-24 degree C mark. Ok then crew that’ll just about do us for today but if I get a burst of energy later on I’ll start feeding some more photos into the September Surfing Gallery and maybe even a few into the Kuta Cam Gallery .
