**** Howdy crew and welcome back to the baliwaves.com for the daily run down on Bali’s surf and weather conditions . Well we were off to late start this morning due to the fact that it was absolutely pissing down rain. She started around 4.00am and didn’t let up till around 9.00am. I’m sure she woulda flooded out most of the Kuta and Legian area. Anyway so I went down for the surf recon of the Outer Reefs and contrary to what the swell prediction websites were saying wave height is still down in the waist to nipple high plus range between Kuta Reef and Airports . The tide is still on the run out and heading for a 0.8mtr Low around 11.00am . Wind direction is coming lightly outta the SSE-SE @ 1-3knot making surfing conditions on the Outer Reefs clean and all but off-shore. There were 4 surfers in the water on Kuta Reef but wave height was only waist high at best. Middle Reef had 2 or 3 surfers out there as well with wave height slightly better at waist to nipple high plus on the bigger set waves. Airport Left was looking ordinary at waist high at best. Hopefully after the tide bottoms out and starts to run back in we might see a slight increase in wave height , fingers crossed. Maybe down at Uluwatu this morning you’d be surfing waves in the waist to head high class and would more than likely be the best bet this morning. Weather wise , well like I saud it was pissing down rain earlier for like 5 hours straight, and that would be even abnormal if we were smack dead in the middle of the wet season. Right now at 11.00am the cloud cover is thinning out and we do have pockets of blue sky appearing. Humidity levels are definitely gunna be high from lunch time onwards. Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you’ll find that; –1AU$=Rp8,050 –1US$=Rp9,080 – 1NZ$=Rp6,800 – 1EU$=Rp12,850. Ok then yesterday I managed to load ya’s up a NEW VIDEO CLIP with footage of Uluwatu’s Racetrack section reeling off some hollow rides. Ray from the Kandui Surf Resort up in the MENTAWAI ISLANDS is still sending us his surf reports from that part of Indonesia . This morning I’ve also got a couple of friends heading over to LAKEY PEAK on the island of SUMBAWA and they have promised to send us some sms surf reports of whats happening over there. Feel free to drop us an email if you need a hand getting across to Lakey Peak at COST PRICE . Now on a serious note; I’m stoked that our Scholarship Program for underprivileged Balinese kids has done so well, THANKS BIG TIME to all the big hearted people who have got behind us and helped out. Now I’ve got a new program that I’d like to kick off. One that we can control and keep constant progress up-dates on. I’m talking about kinda adopting a school up in one of the area’s of Bali where there’s no cash flow from tourism and hardly any from anything else for that matter. The kids don’t have to pay school fees, because their Mum and Dad’s don’t have any money to pay. Half, or more of the kids that attend don’t even have shoes to wear to school and walk up to 4km’s bare footed to get there. Now in my opinion this is a worthy project for us to think about. What I’d like to start off with is trying to raise enough cash to get electricity hooked up to the school, with electricity we can then look at a lot of other basic stuff, like a water pump etc etc etc. Over the next few days I’m going to try and set up a page with more information on this project. But please if anyone would like to help me out with this noble cause don’t hesitate to send me an email via the “CONTACT” link at the bottom of this page, thanks. Have a good one what ever you’ve got happening out there and stay tuned to the one and only Original Bali Surf and Weather website.
