**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** G’day folks and thanks for waiting around for me to get back from Uluwatu with latest photos and surf info for today . My day started off as usual, no hick ups and I was down the beach taking in the surf recon of the Outer Reefs at 6.15am. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left was still around the same size as yesterday with the odd 2-2ft+ set wave hitting Middle Reef and Airport Left . The tide was on the run up for a 1.9mtr High @ 8.30am , then running out for a 0.8mtr Low around 2.30-3.00pm. Wind direction was coming outta the ENE @ 1-3knot .
So I decided I had better ride my old motor bike down to Uluwatu (risking life, limb & camera equipment on the maniac filled roads of Bali ) to get you lot some fresh photos and surf info. I mean, I do have to keep ya’s up-dated with current surf info don’t I now. I arrived at Uluwatu at 8.15am to find something like 20 surfers in the water spread out between the Main Peak and Temple sections. Wave height was an honest 2 feet with the occasional 3 foot freak set hitting the Main Peak .
Surfing conditions were at the least clean and tidy but I think these latest photos make it look a bit better than it actually was ? Well to tell ya’s the truth I was there for nearly 3 hours and managed to shoot 34 photos, and only these 10 made the grade for baliwaves.com. Compared to the photo sellers who were averaging around 1000 per hour.
By the time I packed it in due to boredom there woulda been around 85 surfers in the water. I suppose seeing as Uluwatu woulda been the only place in Bali with a 3 foot set wave today. Coming home past Padang Padang and Impossible’s there was barely a ripple brea king at either location.
Surfboard Tax outta Bali : There is none…. And the people responsible for spreading that economy damaging rumor should be placed inside a board bag, hung from a tree and slowly roasted over a burning garbage can.
Dreamland: A lot of people have asked me about whats happening down at the once beautiful beach called Dreamland. Well the word is that all the warungs and café’s have been pulled down for a developers dream. Just about all the sand has been washed away and the place is looking very sad, so are the locals who were once making a life down there.
Weather wise here in Bali today we have had a mixed bag of sunshine cloud and rain. But right now at 12.45pm there’s blue sky and sunshine over us in Tuban and the tempe rature would be sitting on 31 degree’s Celsius. While the wind is coming outta the ESE-SE @ 8-12knot and off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu
Quicksilver Indonesia will be running a contest there with the waiting period starting on the 17th of this month . So if your going to be here in Bali get up to Keramas to see the hottest surfers in Indonesia doing their stuff. And if your not don’t worry because we’ll be on the scene to shoot video of the contest for ya’s to view here on the baliwaves.com
For the surfer / fisherman out there, and isn’t there a little bit of fisherman in all of us ? Well you guys can take a look at the up dated fishing report and photos from the last couple of trips out sport fishing here in Bali
