**** MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning surfers and welcome back to the one and only baliwaves.com daily 7/7 surf and weather report from the happy little holiday island of bea utiful Bali .
And I tell ya’s it sure is good to be feeling healthy again after 3+ weeks of trick back and then straight into a dose of the flu. But we’re getting there and I was up for the 6.30am surf recon of the Outer Reefs today. Wave height has dropped back another notch but there’s still plenty of fun sized waves brea king in the 2-3ft (shoulder to head high) between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The best waves out there this morning are on Middle Reef and there was already a couple of surfers on it.
The first of our tides today is gunna be a 1.1mtr Low @ 11.00am and then only a 1.7mtr High @ 5.00pm . The wind at the moment (7.30am) is still pretty calm so surfing conditions are clean and glassy on both sides of the island . But the Tradewind should kick in around mid morning coming outta the ESE-SE and off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu.
Scotto has already phoned through from Canggu earlier and says that there’s some ok waves brea king up there in the 2-3ft+ range and he will have some fresh photos for us to check out when he gets back to Home Base around 11.00am. Dewa Made is also in transit down to Uluwatu with the video camera and hopefully he should get us a couple of new video clips to run as well. Uluwatu would be my pick for the best waves around Bali today .
Weather wise it’s a big contrast on yesterday, and a return to blue sky and sunshine here on the holiday island.
Mentawai Islands : Well like clockwork the guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another surf update from there region of Sumatra . And pretty soon we’ll also have images and reports for ya’s to check out from the Macaronis Resort in the Mentawai islands as well.
G-Land ; I had a pnone call from G-Land this morning and Raymond said to tell you guys and girls that he’ll give you 15% discount off the published price . Just click on his G-Land banner over in our banner advertisement section and drop him an email.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta and the Aussie dollar is just getting stronger and stronger, currently 1AU$=Rp8,645 while 1US$=Rp9,175.
Swell Forecast ; (9th May – 15th may) It’s all happening here in Bali folks. Small waves today before we should start to see a new system showing sometime late tomorrow afternoon and then building into a 6-8ft+ swell over the weekend. This should continue into next week with another system riding in on it’s back and keeping wave height in the medium to solid class and then furth er out towards the end of next week yet another solid swell system moving in on us. I’ll be writing up a new swell forecast for ya’s tomorrow morning on whats gunna be happening over the next week ok.
Rusty’s Rumble surfing contest which has been running at Sanur Reef on the East coast of Bali has been scoring some sick waves for Ind onesia ’s best surfers and if you want to check out how it’s been going so far (finals yet to come) take a look in our Stories section of baliwaves.com or visit the ISC website.
