**** MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE **** Howdy crew and welcome aboard to the baliwaves.com Sunday Session . Well the waves are looking much better with our new swell starting to show (as per swell forecast).
My early morning surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was to find our new swell just starting to show between Kuta Reef and Airport Left with wave height in the 1-3ft range. But then by 10.00am wave height was getting better and pushing 3-4ft. Plenty of surfers on all sections with Kuta Reef and Airport Left looking the best out there.
The first of our tides today was a 0.8mtr Low at 7.00am and then followed up with a 2.3mtr High around 1.00pm . Wind direction has been pretty strong off-shore coming outta the ESE-SE @ 10-15knot since early this morning.
Scotto made the run down to Uluwatu for us and these photos are the result. This is what Scott had to say on surfing conditions at Ulu. “Today I was a little slow to get off the mark, but I eventually got down to the beach about 8:30am. The waves were breaking in the 1-3ft range so I headed off to Uluwatu to see how things were looking on the bukit. When I arrived there was around 50+ surfers in the water spread between the main peak and the racetrack sections of reef. There was also a crew of about a dozen up at temples which was looking really good. The crew grew over the couple of hours that I sat on the cliff top. Up at temples there was probably 25-30 people by the time I left. The sets were just starting to push at around the 4ft mark. The standout for the morning in my opinion was “gobleg” who was pulling into every barrell and laying into some great top turns sending buckets into the air. Made Lana seemed to be in cruize mode this morning but looked like he was having good fun as always. There was also a mix bag out there with people from everywhere wanting their taste of the Uluwatu magic and on the most part they were getting it too. Ok well the little boost in swell has arrived and things are looking pretty sweet today with blue skys great waves and warm tropical weather. Till next time, Scotto”
Weather wise today, well except for the overly strong ESE-SE Tradewind we’d have to give here a 9-10 on the baliwaves.com scale of weather. Nothing but blue sky and sunshine, warm water and waves for the lucky buggers here on vacation.
Swell Forecast (23rd May – 29th May) Well it’s certainly looking good for the next week here in Bali swell wis e. Wave height should remain in the 2-3ft+ range for Saturday and then sometime Sunday afternoon we should start to feel a solid swell hitting our reefs from G-land to Sumbawa . This should hold in the 5-8ft range through till Thursday / Friday before fading out and then not long after we should receive another back to back swell. All good for a big week of perfect waves for the lucky ones here in Ind onesia .
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
G-Land ; I had a pnone call from G-Land this morning and Raymond said to tell you guys and girls that he’ll give you 15% discount off the published price . Just click on his G-Land banner over in our banner advertisement section and drop him an email.
