**** MIDDAY SURF UP-DATE **** Hey crew welcome aboard the baliwaves.com daily surf and weather report machine . And what a day of surfing it’s been here on the happy little surf riddled island of Bali today.
I started the ball rolling with a 6.00am surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban, and with high expectations of good waves I might add. Well Huey never let us down with the new swell arriving dead smack on schedule. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left had jumped overnight into the 3-4ft+ range. The first of the tides today was 2.5mtr High @ 10.00am and then followed up with a 0.2mtr Low @ 4.00pm . Wind direction was off-shore outta the ESE-SE @ 5-10knot . So with all that info in my head I hit the road for Uluwatu as ya’s can see in these latest photos outta Indo.
Kuta Reef ; 2-3ft+ and peeling off nicely for a good 75yrds but it woulda been a safe call to say KR was gunna get crowded.
Middle Reef ; 3-4ft+ and also looking good through the early am before the tide peaks. She’ll also be a good bet later this afternoon.
Airport Left ; 1-3ft and looking the most sedated outta the big three, but still producing some nice little waves for the intermediate crew.
Impossible’s ; had 2-4ft lines wrapping down the reef all the way to Bingin. There was also something like 30+ surfers spread out along the reef.
Padang Padang ; there were even a few 2-3 footers breaking at PP for the body boarders wanting to get in some tube riding practice.
Uluwatu; as ya’s can see in thes photos some of the bigger set waves at Ulu were pushing the 6ft+ range on the Main Peak with the odd one running down the Racetrack . But I have to say it was a bit of a circus with a lot of surfers out there that should not have been anywhere near it. There were broken boards and legropes, they had to call in the surf rescue on a couple of occasions to rescue “surfersâ€. And as I was just leaving the turn off into Uluwatu there was an ambulance burning rubber going in there.
Weather wise she gets a 10-10 for blue sky, sunshine, warm water, off-shore wind and sweet sweet swell.
Swell forecast ; after checking out as much information as I can from the swell prediction guys it looks like we are gunna be in more small waves again through Monday. Then sometime between Monday afternoon and Tuesday afternoon we will score a new swell outta the SW and wave height should go back into the 4-6ft+ range on the open Southern facing locations. This system should provide waves through till Thursday before backing off into the 2-4ft class. Then sometime around Saturday another smaller system will come through and push wave height back into the 3-4ft+ range. So all in all it’s gunna be a good week of waves for the crew over here in Bali / Ind onesia .
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
And for those who haven’t heard about the terrible accident that happened up in the Mentawai islands last week. Aussie surfer Darren Longbottom while doing some tow in surfing suffered a serious neck injury and is currently in a Singapore hospital unable to be moved.
G-Land ; I had a pnone call from G-Land this morning and Raymond said to tell you guys and girls that he’ll give you 15% discount off the published price . Just click on his G-Land banner over in our banner advertisement section and drop him an email.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta and the Aussie dollar is just getting stronger and stronger, currently 1AU$=Rp8,850 while 1US$=Rp9,270
