****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Good morning surfers and thanks for stopping by the baliwaves.com for the start of another week full of surf and weather info from your favourite holiday island of Bali.
And we certainly do have a good looking day coming on for the crew already over here. Well we finally started to see a definite improvement in wave height yesterday with wave height height in the head to head high plus range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. This morning when I went down for the 7.00am surf recon of the Outer reefs wave height is still hanging in there at 2-4ft. So I think as the tide starts its run back in for the scheduled 2.4mtr High @ 1.00pm we could see more improvement in size. Wind direction was blowing clean off-shore outta the ESE-SE @ 5-8knot and will also probably increase in strength by midday.
Kuta Reef ; the tide was still too low for Kuta Reef to be breaking properly but even so there were still half a dozen surfers out there. Wave height was coming through in the shoulder to head high plus class and around mid to late morning it will be pretty good out there.
Middle Reef was pulling in a little bit more size breaking consistently in the 3-4ft range. And being better suited to the lower end of the tide was producing some nice waves for the crew already in the water.
Airport Left , I didn’t see any surfers out at Airport’s but as the tide runs back in there will be some fun sized waves in the waist to head high plus class.
Impossible’s , Scott phoned through on his way down to Uluwatu this morning that there were some nice lines bending down the reef at Impossibl’s in the 2-3ft+ range and that there were surfers scattered along the reef catching em.
Uluwatu , Apparantly with the low tide happening Scott was taking photos of the Racetrack section where wave height was a very tubing 3-4ft. I’m looking forward to seeing what Scotto produces for us when he gets back to Home Base around midday. I’d also have to imagine that the Main Peak and Temple sections will be smoking towards midday as the tide fills in..
Weather wise out there this morning there’s nothing but blue sky and sunshine. So we will be expecting a maximum temperature of around 32-33 degree’s Celsius. The water surface temperature has dropped with the strong off-shore winds that have been blowing. Currently around 20-21 degree’s Celsius.
Swell Forecast , well just off the top of my head I think wave height should keep increasing through out today and into tomorrow (Tuesday) and then we will still have some smaller waves yo-yoing up and down in size for a couple more days. But I’ll have an indepth look at whats happening later this afternoon and fill ya’s in on tomorrows surf report.
I’d just like to let everyone know about the “Coca-Cola for Bali coastal clean up day†being held at Legian beach 13th July 08 at 8.00am. For more information on this gath ering go to this link for the full run down. https://www.baliwaves.com/Content.aspx?Page=Stories&Section=Read&ID=43
Drop me a line if your interested in organizing your friends to get on board a 10mtr high powered ocean speed boat if you want to surf locations like Desert Pt, Scar Reef, Supersuck, Yo-Yo’s without having to wait days to get the their the old way. I’m thinking this type of trip is gunna be the New Way to hit Lombok and Sumbawa instead of the old 7 day slow boat system. Especially when it’s priced around the same range but doubling the amount of surf time ! These charters are only for private groups at this stage so organize your surfing buddies and get on board.
And just a reminder that we still have some baliwaves.com T-Shirts and stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
