****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE**** Hello crew and thanks for hanging around until I got back from a little trip up the coast today. I didn’t get a chance to check out surfing conditions on the Outer Reefs this morning as it was still an hour and a half before sun rise when I left. But one thing I did know was that it woulda been all but flat out there today. But where I was there were still some 4ft or well over head sized set waves coming through.
But I wasn’t the only one in the know and I reckon there woulda at least been another 30-40 surfers up there in the know. Most of you would know about this location as well I’d imagine. About 1.45hrs up the coast from Tuban with a perfect left and right A frame set up.
I arrived at 6.30am to clean of-shore wind and plenty of waves coming through. Surfing conditions were clean and tidy up until around 10.30am when the ESE-SE Tradewind made it’s presence felt. Sorry but this is gunna be a quick little up-date as I’m tired from paddling and steering through some mean traffic.
Weather wise it was another cloudy and cool start to the day but by late morning the sun was starting to break on through. Right now at 4.00pm there’s nothing but blue sky and sunshine happening.
Hopefully tomorrow morning I’m gunna head back down to the south of the island to see whats been happening down that way. So tune in tomorrow afternoon for more surf info from the one and only original Bali surf and Weather Report website.
Swell Forecast (10th July – 16th July) Small waves for today the 10th at most locations around Bali with maybe some more size down on the southern end of the island. Hopefully tomorrow (11th) we should receive a small spike in wave height that will last into the weekend. Then we’ll see wave height tapering back off through the middle of next week. Further out we may have a new system moving our way but we’ll have to keep our eye on the charts.
I’d just like to let everyone know about the “Coca-Cola for Bali coastal clean up day†being held at Legian beach 13th July 08 at 8.00am. For more information on this gath ering go to this link for the full run down. https://www.baliwaves.com/Content.aspx?Page=Stories&Section=Read&ID=43
Drop me a line if your interested in organizing your friends to get on board a 10mtr high powered ocean speed boat if you want to surf locations like Desert Pt, Scar Reef, Supersuck, Yo-Yo’s without having to wait days to get the their the old way. I’m thinking this type of trip is gunna be the New Way to hit Lombok and Sumbawa instead of the old 7 day slow boat system. Especially when it’s priced around the same range but doubling the amount of surf time ! These charters are only for private groups at this stage so organize your surfing buddies and get on board.
And just a reminder that we still have some baliwaves.com T-Shirts and stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
