****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE**** G’day crew and thanks for hanging around for the baliwaves.com daily surf and weather wrap on todays surfing and weather conditions around Bali.
Me I’ve been pretty well flat out today getting my work visa in order for the next 12 months but our man Scotto was on the ball again and as ya’s can see in these latest photos to hit the streets from Bali he was up at Canggu today.
Wave height here on the Outer Reefs of Tuban had taken another chop is size and backed off down into the 1-3ft range between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. The first of our tides today was a 2.0mtr High @ 6.00am and then we had a 0.6mtr Low just after lunch. There was bugger all wind through the early morning hours until the ESE Tradewind kicked in around 9.30am.
Here’s what Scott had to say about Canggu today. OK today I was headed up to Canggu as Uluwatu was now off limits. The swell has taken another step back so it was probably a better choice today anyway. I arrived at the beach at around 7am and there was already a solid pack on both the sandbar and the rivermouth. I set up in the middle of the two and shot both.
There was a number of high profile surfers in the water and plenty of photo and video guys standing on the beach waiting to catch the money shot. You will probably see a few of the big names in the next couple of weeks as they are all here for a contest “somewhere?”I hung around for about two hours and pulled the plug.
The tide was getting lower, but and as it did the sandbar was really starting to open up and produce some of the nice barrels that it does so well. I would have hung out a little longer but I had my photos, and wonted to get out of the sun before it got to hot. So there you go another beautiful day in Bali. Great, fun waves, perfect weather and just an all round relaxing place to be.
OK well thats it for me, but before I go, I went to the hard rock hotel last night and watched “Mr Tom Curren” 3x world champ do an acustic set to a packed house. After that it was the Bali premier of “Walking On Water” a really cool surf flic with some hot surfing. Also making an appearance was “J.O.B” Jamie O’Brien, who was helping to raise some money for a grommet who had a motor bike accident at Desert Point. There was a 5minute film about this boy and some sick footage of Desert Point doing its thing. If you missed this show last night you really missed out. Ok thats it for me, till next time.Scott.
Oh and I also loaded ya’s up another New Video Clip (a day at Balangan) and you should be able to find that in the Revver Video section of baliwaves.com.
And just a reminder that we still have some baliwaves.com T-Shirts and stickers available for ya’s here in Bali so drop me a line.
Mentawai islands ; The good guys from the Kandui Surf Resort have sent us through another new batch of photos showing off more perfection in their part of Ind o. And you’ll be able to suss them out in the Surf Report section. Here’s another baliwaves bonus for ya’s dept; Anyday now we’ll also be providing ya’s with surf reports and photos from the Macaronis Surf Resort up in the Mentawai’s. I was talking to a couple of friends yesterday who have been out on charter in the Ments and they reckon if they ever make it back up there again they won’t be going on a boat after stopping off in the Surf Resorts. That’s where they’ll be heading. The Surf Resorts up there just make it all too easy for their guests with speed boats to zap you around all day and then back to the Resort for R & R in the evenings.
