****MORNING SURF UP-DATE**** Good morning surfers and thanks for tuning in for the baliwaves.com surf and weather report, straight out of the No.1 surfing holiday destination of Bali.
Well the first thing I noticed this morning on my way down for the 6.30Am surf recon of the Outer Reefs was there was no smell of dead fish. The next thing I realized was that the wind was blowing off-shore out of the East. So for the one lone dawn patrolling surfer that was out on Kuta Reef he was surfing in clean off-shore conditions with wave height pushing 2-4ft from Kuta Reef to Airport Left. Just a pity that the tide was just coming off the bottom of a 0.2mtr Low.
I hung out down the beach until 7.45Am before the need for coffee drove me back to Home Base, and then the wind was starting to swing further around to the North but still only light @ 1-3knot. I just checked the boyweather website and they are calling for a howling on-shore Westerly wind gusting up to 16knot. So it just goes to show you that anyone can make a call on Bali’s surf and weather conditions from outside of Indonesia, but they often get it totally wrong.
Tide wise today we will have a 1.8mtr High @ 11.00Am and then a 0.8mtr Low just after 4.00Pm.
Looking for a wave today , well if you were up early you could have taken your pick from Bingin, Impossible’s and the Ractrack section of Uluwatu along the West Coast and scored some clean action. I don’t know what the wind will do as the day progresses (who does..) but I’d say there’s a big chance it will swing right around to the West and increase in strength. Then again I hope it stays where it is. I’m going to try and get out and shoot you guys some new photos so if your not doing anything later this afternoon stop by.
Weather wise we have an overcast start to the day but the cloud is only thin and up pretty high. Heading for a top temperature of around 32 degree’s Celsius.
Swell Forecast ; Now this is a tricky one cause I’m only going on what I can make out of someone else’s predictions. The charts are currently calling for wave height in the 6-8ft face range but today it’s way bigger than that. Then they are calling for a new system to show on around next Thursday at 8-10ft face value that should run through till Saturday. Then even further out around the start of following week there could be another swell heading our way.
Don’t forget you can drop us an email through the “Contact” link if you have any questions that might help your next vist to the holiday island run a bit smoother.
The good guys from the Macaroni Surf Resort up in the Mentawai Islands have also sent us through an “end of season” wrap up and included some super special deals for anyone wanting to get in early and book for the coming 2009 season. So check that out on the Macaroni Report under Surf Reports.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you will find that 1AU$=Rp7,585 – 1US$=Rp10,650 give or take 100 Rupiah.
