BALI / INDONESIA
3rd – 4th July 2019
Hello surfers and lovers of Bali and thanks again for stopping by the baliwaves (Bringing you all the good things from Bali since back in 1999) for our latest news and best possible views on surfing and weather conditions here on the island of the Gods, and the No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination and gateway to Indonesia’s surfing paradise, Bali.
Ok so yesterday the 3rd like I mentioned and we were back out at my old long time stomping ground of Kuta Reef. Nothing had changed, the waves were still just as perfect and grinding and wrapping around the reef for a good 100mtr ride. The crowd factor hasn’t exasperated any either but that’s par for the course at KR and everyone that deserves it usual gets there share of waves. Me I only managed to get 7 in a 90 min session. I think the young guys were taking advantage of the old guys yesterday hahaha. Plenty of power out there when it’s in the head to double head high class and as usual there were still middle aged kooks getting pushed into waves.
As it reflects in these photos we shot it was pretty hard work for our man. For starters it was only his second time shooting out of a rocking boat, everytime the sets come through the boat starts rocking like a bucking bronco. Not too mention a lifeless dull grey overcast sky for the time we were in the water.
Today the 4th and our 7.00AM surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban was showing wave height to have taken a slight drop in size. The tide was still a bit low for Kuta Reef and it may have been bumped up a notch as it filled in. But at the time it was breaking in the 3-5ft class between Kuta Reef and Airport left. The wind was already up out of the ESE and has since strengthen up quite a bit.
Weather wise out side right now at high noon we have a mostly blue sky and the temperature is on 28 degree’s Celsius. Humidity level is at 69% and the UV index on 6. Wind direction is still ESE with gusts up to 26km/h
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is showing wave height to be backing off a little more and the ESE wind to be coming in early and gearing up by mid morning.
Further out it looks to me like we will see another medium sized swell grace our beaches and reefs around the 6th – 7th then another medium swell on the 9th and again on the 11th riding in back to back. There is a monster system out in the middle of the Indian Ocean around that time as well and we’ll be tracking that one closely over the next few days.
Travel Tip #76251
Please take care and never ever leave any valuables in your car or under your motorbike seat as I’ve heard more reports of thieves plying their trade along some of the more secluded parking areas around Bali.
UP DATE, I have just received another email from a long term Bali surfer who had his motor cycle seat broken into and his phone and cash removed from the Impossible’s area. Sad to hear so make sure if your traveling solo do not bring valuables to the beach and give these bastard work.
You might have also noticed a new sponsor on our home page (just above the surf report photos) a big welcome aboard to our old friends at SURFRESQ. These guys have a new device that will put your broken leg rope back together in seconds and will become a standard part of your surfing kit in the future. Check it out and see for yourself.
