Hello everyone and thanks for dropping by the baliwaves for our latest news and best views. Sorry about no report yesterday I had some family stuff and promises to keep. But anyway here’s a photo gallery from yesterday and a few photos thrown in from a few different places we have been visiting the last few days.
Yesterday the 28th of March and it was a wet and overcast morning as we made our way over to the Eastern sea board of Bali. We were not expecting anything special, keeping our expectations low we were happy to find a small crowd of 7-9 surfers in the water with 2-3ft waves. As it shows in most of the surfing photos you can see the lack of luster. There as also a couple of rain squalls that came through and blacked us out totally. The good thing about the rain is that it does keep the budget boys and girls on rotor scooters away. Surfing conditions stayed relatively clean through until just after mid morning when the wind started to swing cross / on shore.
Today the 1st of the March and we are now getting close to better weather patterns here in the tropics. I have always said even pre internet February is the hardest month of the year on weather and decent surf. This morning it wasn’t raining when we set out from home at 5.05am but by the time we hit Sanur there was plenty of evidence of heavy rain on the road. With hardly any tidal movement and a fresh NW wind fanning the surf at Keramas the waves were looking clean. Unfortunately wave height was only just ion the waist to chest high class. There was a few bigger set waves start to show around 7.30am.
Weather wise over on the East coast this morning it was 50/50 with cloud and sun and the fresh off shore wind was blowing in some light rain from God only knows. Back home on the West coast and it’s still pretty much the same. Right now at 4.00pm the temperature is on 30C, humidity is at 78%. Wind direction is now more straight out of the West at 27km/h.
Tomorrow morning the tide will be a high tide of 1.6mtrs at 8.54pm
Tomorrows Surf Forecast is calling for wave height to be slowly tapering off through out the day, but on an increasing period. The wind is predicted to be light and variable but I guess we will have to wait and see.

Just for the record with all the crowds of learner surfers swamping a lot of locations, mainly due to the conditions not opening up the usual amount of locations tempers have been flaring. Imagine if it was happening at your local where you live. You would be pissed off too. So just a tip that can help to make sure you have a good time out in the water (any surf is a good surf right). If you find your self having accidently drop in on a local you had better be quick with your apology, quite often that’s all it will take to de esqualate the situation. If a local also drops in on you don’t freak out ! it’s only a wave and try to put yourself in their position with the current crowds. Just try complimenting or having a laugh with the surfer it will go down a lot better and earn you some cred. If you lose control and start swearing and dropping the “F” word I can assure you at the very least you will be in no polite way told to leave the water. Just a heads up cause we want you all to have good vibes in the water here in Bali.
If anyone of our regulars has an old GoPro at home they would like to donate to us at baliwaves we would be forever grateful. I did have a GoPro 7 but last year the rubber seal covering the on/off button perished and is now not water tight.
Ok that’s me I want to get down to the beach for an afternoon swell check to help make our call on tomorrow’s primary. Have a nice afternoon and check in with us again tomorrow.
