We have been putting in some miles to make sure we have been scoring the best waves on the island. On the 5th we were back down the East Coast and even though the swell had dropped out considerably we still managed to score some super clean and relatively uncrowded (5 surfers) fun little 2-4 footers. Perfect weather conditions with blue sky and light off shore wind that kept faning the waves through until shifting to the WSW around 9.30am.
Yesterday the 6th and after making contact with our good friend Made up at Balian. We decided unanimously to get the car rolling at 5am and take a leisurely drive up into the West Coast country region to Balian. There hadn’t been any rain the last few days in the are and the proof for us was of clear blue water out in the surf. From Kuta to Balian it’s a decent distance on the testing roads of Bali. Not the sort of trip you want to make on a scooter loaded up that’s for sure, unless you have plenty of evasive and off road riding experience.
Balian didn’t let us down and it was great to be back in the water riding those sweet little left and right A frame peaks. We were not the only ones with the same idea and by 8.00am there must have been at least 30 surfers scattered through the line up along with the us along the usual hungry expat locals. We still managed to enjoy a solid 2.5hr session before breakfast and then a very slow traffic laden return home around 10.30am.
Weather wise it was another tip top day here on the World’s No.1 tropical surfing holiday destination.
I guess by now most of you would have seen or heard of the very poor behavior of a male surfer punching and intimidating a girl surfer in Bali yesterday. Very sad to see people affected with anger and aggression like that here in such a beautiful place. I’m sure there will be justice either by the authorities or local style. That’s why we do our best to avoid the crowded locations and come home surfed out and smiling.
This morning the 7th and it won’t be long before we see what we have install for us today. Right now it’s just gone 4.49am and time to wake up the crew for another day of surf and sun in Bali. Have an awesome day and thanks for tuning into the baliwaves.
If anyone of our regulars has an old GoPro at home they would like to donate to us at baliwaves we would be forever grateful. I did have a GoPro 7 but last year the rubber seal covering the on/off button perished and is now not water tight. email me if you can help us out
