Yesterday the 19th and as I mentioned in yesterdays up date Ketut was over blasting away on the East Coast at Keramas. As it shows in our latest photo gallery it was indeed cranking and it didn’t take much effort to get yourself a sick barrel. These were pretty good waves in perfect conditions and only 6-15 surfers in the water while conditions prevailed. It’s all about know when to do these strike missions while everyone else is duking it out on the West side.
Today the 20th and the charts were showing me a slight bump in wave height with fresh off shore ESE wind. So we thought we would stealth it down to Balangan for the sunrise. Things were going as planned and there were only 2 other surfers in the water when we rolled into our favorite warung. The tide was still lowish but already starting to flood in for a big 2.41mtr High around 10.15am.
Wave height was in the waist to head high class, we could work with that for sure. But with that big tide on the way it wasn’t long before the line up filled with learn to surf groups mostly on long boards. By 9.00am it was all over for us with around 150 learners in the water. I can’t blame them either as it really was perfect size waves and conditions for these guys and gals to get out there and work on the surfing skills.
Weather wise this morning we were surprised to find a mostly wet road on the drive onto the bukit. As the sky started to lighten up we could see some big nasty cloud banks over towards Uluwatu to Nusa Dua. But it was clear over Balangan and looking good. Then at 7.00am it started to rain and kept going for almost an hour. Then finally the sun kicked back in for a hot and sunny afternoon. Right now at 4.10pm the temp is a warm 30C, humidity is at 78%. The wind isstill coming out of the ESE at 26km/h.
The next tide will be a 0.18mtr Low at 4.36pm
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is predicting wave height to get a nice bump in size still out of the SW at 15 seconds. The wind is also predicted to be fresh out of the ESE all day.
Ok friends thanks again for checking out our latest news and best views and hopefully we will have something special for you tomorrow. So keep an eye on our baliwaves face book and Inst pages in the morning.
Travel tips. Personal hygiene is a big issue and it’s all on you ! I learn’t this a long long time ago when I started living here in Bali. You really need to understand that everything you touch here in Indonesia could be infected with harmful germs, everything, especially bank notes. So before you eat a single peanut or potato chip make sure you wash your hands with soap or sanitizer. If your with your family enforce these simple rules and you should be fine when it comes to the dreaded “Bali belly” Eating in hotel resto’s your more likely to get crook than eating in a small warung. Simply because the resto’s are not usually (most cases) staffed by owners with staff often worried about wasting food or hygiene. Not always, but that’s where I hear of the most cases of illness coming from. While the small owner operator warungs are too scared to serve bad food and lose their local and international customers. It makes sense to me. Bottom line is WASH YOUR HANDS thoroully before eating any food.
If anyone of our regulars has an old GoPro at home they would like to donate to us at baliwaves we would be forever grateful I did have a GoPro 7 but last year the rubber seal covering the on/off button perished and is now not water tight. Please drop me a line
