Here is just a taste of what we were doing yesterday and this morning in today’s photo gallery. Yesterday the 4th and we were back on the West coast highway heading for the long lefts at Balian. There was a decent swell running and our first glimpse was looking promising with 3-4ft+ set waves breaking out on the A frame peak. Surfing conditions were clean as can be with a light off shore wind and rising tide. No shortage of surfers in the water with the crowd peaking at around 40.
This morning the 5th and we thought we would sneak over to the East coast under the cover of darkness and score some sun rise swell on the black sand. Everything went smooth until we pulled into the new car park to see an almost flat ocean with a light and clean off shore wind. So we hung out and within 10 mins there were some head high set waves and no other surfers in sight. We did give it a shot but decided on heading north to Keramas where we hoped it would be more consistent but knew more crowded.
Keramas was delivering some very nice shaped waves in the chest to over head high range. Surfing conditions were still clean and glassy and it stayed that way right through until we left around 10.15am. But it wasn’t easy going and lots of stiff local competition all chasing the same prize of the Keramas perfect wave. I’ll post some of today’s photos for you tomorrow. Maybe a 50/50 of Keramas and where we end up tomorrow.
Weather wise it’s been a super nice day and great to watch the sun rise for a change. Although those afternoon sun sets down in front of Kuta reef are pretty special. Right now at 2.45pm there is some cloud building down towards the southern end of the island but still nice and sunny here in South Kuta. Temperature wise it’s a warm 29C with the humidity at 78%. Wind direction is ESE at 15km/h.
The next tide today in Bali will be a 0.02mtr Low at 5.34pm
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast has the wave models calling for wave height to back off a little through out the night with the period dropping from 16 seconds to 15 seconds. The wind should kick off a little lighter before increasing in strength by mid morning.
Ok friends thanks for dropping into the baliwaves and stay tuned as we will be back out there looking for waves again tomorrow morning. Drop us a line if you need a hand with anything that might just make your next visit to Bali run a little smoother.
