Here is a handful of photos we shot up the coast at Balian yesterday. Strange enough, while a lot of surfers around this part of South Bali was calling it flat it was absolutely pumping up the coast with set waves pushing about double head high. It is a lazy 2hr drive from the Kuta area up to Balian and I would not recommend riding a scooter up there as it is a very busy road. It is the main artery between Java and Bali full of trucks and buses and crazy drivers trying to overtake on blind corners and blind hills.
Today the 24th and according to the charts we were hoping to see a nice punch in wave height this morning. So we were up early and on the scene to great the sunrise. Only to find wave height was just not quite cooperating and still a little small the set waves that did show sow promise were few and far between. But saying that if you were lucky enough, or skilled enough to be in position and score one of those set waves you would have been pretty stoked I reckon. We have some photos to download and I’ll get onto that shortly.
Photo overload is a real thing. It just hasn’t stop pumping here in Bali. I mean if you are prepared to get off your but and go looking you are always going to find some perfect waves somewhere on the island of Bali. I’ve been here almost 30yrs and I think only one time in all those years have I seen the island waveless.
Weather wise today we had another chilly start with that cool off shore wind before turning into an absolute classic. Nothing but blue sky and welcomed warm temperatures. Right now at 4.00pm it’s still a comfy 29C with the humidity at 75%. The wind is currently cross / off shore out of the SSE at 16km/h
The next tide today will be a 0.28mtr Low at 8.20pm tonight.
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is calling for wave height to taper off a little tomorrow morning and then pulse a little more through late afternoon and into Monday. We can expect the ESE-SE Tradewind to kick in around 8.30-9.00am with gusts up to 20km’h by midday.
