Hello my friends and here’s the latest surfing photos out of Bali that our man Ketut captured yesterday the 10th. We were pretty stoked driving into our Primary location yesterday morning and getting a view of the ocean being fanned by a light off shore breeze, not too mention some nice chest to well over head high lines lining up. That was around 6.00am and there were already 2 surfers in the water and a few more watching.
As it shows in this hand full of photos it was great to see the older surfers paddling into the waves.. You know, the guys that have been surfing for 50yrs plus and in their 60’s. There were of course some young surfers (in their 20’s) also out there, but getting pushed into their waves erratically. Every real surfer knows that beach breaks are the place to try and stand up on waves.
It will be interesting to read about the tourists that have fled Bali to Lombok to avoid 1 day of Nyepi. Especially with the Islamic Ramadan period just commenced. I’ve already heard that this year some of the major surf breaks will also be closed to the public on the island of Lombok.
Weather wise it was overcast and grey all day with the rain kicking in around 2pm and it’s still raining now at 11.00am on the 11th.
Ok that has up to date for now and seeing that it is now Nyepi (Hari Raya Nyepi) 11th of March 2024 so I’m going to enjoy the rest of today’s serenity with my Family. We will be back out on the road early tomorrow morning so stay tuned for the latest surf news and best surf views out of Bali.
Tomorrow’s Surf Forecast is going to be interesting with light variable wind predicted. There should also be some swell at the better locations. There is a big T/C or T/D spinning away under Indonesia atm moving West to East so we will still see some more strong West wind before the week is out.
