East Coast Surf Report – Wednesday 12th August 2026
Ketut was back over on the East Coast early this morning and found wave height sitting in the 3 to 5 foot range with a few bigger ones coming through on the sets. The wind was offshore right through the early part of the check which kept the faces clean enough to work with. Crowd wise there were only about 5 surfers out, so nobody was sitting around waiting for a wave.
With so few surfers about the wave count stayed high right through, and the offshore held long enough to keep it clean and tidy. Ketut also mentioned we have customers out here until the 18th, so there are a few more of these checks to come.
Weather & Tides
Right now it is sitting around 25C with the wind staying light through the middle of the day and mostly clear skies about. On the tides today, the water was filling in through the early part of the morning before topping out mid morning, which is a fair part of the reason it was working as well as it was. From there it drained back down to a low around 4:20pm this afternoon, with the next high due around 10:45pm and another low close to 4am. Tomorrow morning has a high around 10:30am, so the timing should suit an early look again.
Surf Forecast
Looking ahead there is more size on the way. Thursday should be up in the 6 to 7 foot range with a long period behind it, then Friday eases back to around 6 foot before Saturday holds at a similar size again. Winds are looking variable across those few days, so the early mornings will be the better call before the local wind builds. Worth a look at the swell forecast for the full picture before you commit to a drive.
