Balangan Surf Report – Monday 14th September 2026
Ketut was down at Balangan today and reported waves in the 3 to 5 foot range with a few bigger ones coming through on the sets. The wind was strong offshore right through, which held the faces up and had the waves lining up across the reef. Crowd wise there were around 15 surfers out, which for waves that size is nothing too heavy, and most of them were spread along the peak rather than sitting on top of each other. Ketut mentioned it was a sunny day with plenty of waves getting through.
The swell had a bit of push behind it with a long period running, so the sets were arriving in proper lines instead of all at once. That strong offshore did make it a job getting into a few of them, and anyone paddling late was getting held out the back of the wave. The ones that did get through were clean and tidy though. Ketut reported that once the water started to fill in later on the waves lined up better across the reef and the bigger sets settled down a touch, and the crowd thinned out as the day went on so wave count stayed decent for anyone who stuck around.
Weather & Tides
Right now it is sitting around 25C at Balangan with sunny conditions and that strong offshore still about. On the tides today, the water was filling in through the afternoon towards a high just after midnight around 12:07am. From there it drains back to a low near 6:19am before pushing back over the reef to the next high around 12:29pm, then easing away again to a low around 6:04pm. That middle of the day push should leave enough water over the reef to keep things lining up for anyone heading down for a look.
Surf Forecast
Looking ahead, there is still plenty of swell on the way. Tuesday is holding around 5 foot with the long period behind it, and Wednesday and Thursday look much the same with the size sitting steady rather than dropping off. Winds look a little more variable over the next few days, so the early mornings will be the safer call before any local wind starts building through the middle of the day. Have a look at the swell forecast for the full picture on the coming days.
