Kuta Reef Surf Report – Wednesday 7th October 2026
Ketut was down on Kuta Beach and out checking Kuta Reef today, Wednesday the 7th, and the call was small. Wave height was sitting around 2 foot on the reef with not a lot more getting through to the beach. The wind was offshore and it stayed that way, so what was there was clean and tidy, just lacking a bit of size. Crowd wise there were around 20 to 25 surfers spread between the reef and the beach, including a surf school group making the most of the smaller waves on the inside.
Ketut mentioned the sky was a bit cloudy through the morning but it stayed dry and the offshore wind kept the faces clean right through. The instruments were reading a long period swell out of the south, so there may have been the odd set out the back on the outer reefs with a little more push than the 2 foot average, but Ketut’s call from the beach was small and fun rather than anything to rush down for. The tide was draining through the morning which usually pulls the water off Kuta Reef, and with this little swell about it was more a longboard and learner type of day between Kuta Reef and the beach. Nothing too special but still worth a look if you are staying close by in Tuban or Kuta.
Weather & Tides
Right now it’s sitting around 29C with cloudy skies and the water a comfortable 24C, so no wetsuit needed. On the tides today the water was draining through the morning down to a low of around 2:14pm this afternoon, before filling back in for a high around 8:47pm tonight. Tomorrow has a low at 2:31am, a high around 8:42am and the next low at 2:51pm, so the early morning push should put enough water back over the reef for the first few hours of the day.
Surf Forecast
Looking ahead the models have a decent jump in size on the way. Thursday is showing a long period swell building into the 6 to 7 foot range on the open ocean readings, which should wake up Kuta Reef, Airport Left and Middle Reef after today’s small stuff. Friday looks to be holding steady around 5 to 7 foot before it starts easing back to around 5 foot by Saturday. The wind is showing as variable through those days, so early mornings should be the cleanest before any local wind builds. Check the swell forecast for the full picture across the week.
