**** AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE **** G’day folks and thanks for droppin by Bali’s First and foremost website for surf, swell and weather information (since ’99). Hey an just wait an see what we’ve got in store for ya’s around mid January ’07, a whole new look baliwaves.com that’s gunna give you guys a whole lot more interactivness with the content. Ok back to basics, @ 7.30am I was down perusing the wave situation on the Outer Reefs of Tuban and it appears to me that wave height had indeed started to show some improvement in size. It was still only in the 1-2ft class (waist high plus) but still that’s an improvement over the last couple a weeks. Wind direction at that time of the morning was coming ever so lightly outta the West, onshore between Kuta Reef and Airports but still clean and glassy. There even looked to be some kinda hope for a few small waves to ride on Airport left when the tide ran back in. She was still pretty dry out there first up through the early AM. But then around 10.00am the wind swung around to the straight SOUTH (the breath of Satan) increasin into the 4-7knot range. The swell forecast is starting to look a bit more positve for some small Christmas day waves, at least for a day or two anyway. LAKEY PEAK sms surf report from Made came through on time again and Made reckons wave height seemed to be even a touch smaller on the Island of Sumbawa. There were 5 surfers out sharing the 1-2 footers on Lakey Peak. Crowd levels over at Lakai have also dropped off down to 9 guests in the entire area, and 3 of those 9 arn’t surfers. The Aman Gati Hotel, the No.1 Hotel in the area has an occupancy of 2 guests with the other 60 odd rooms vacant.. Doesn’t sound good to me, as the area is poverty filled enough as it is without the further lack of surfers. We had a big event happening here in Tuban this morning with a huge gathering of Balinese (Hindu) from all over the Kuta District, getting together for a mass prayer known as “NGELAWANG” (Slim was there). I’ve also gotta say there’s been quite a pick up in the number of Australian surfers and families around the streets over the last few days, an it’s fantastic to see ! Right now here in Tuban at 2.30pm the rain has just started to fall and I tell ya it’s a welcome relief from what’s been a very hot and humid day so far. Just to finish up todays report I wanna Thank my old friend Peter Jones for these old photos of Uluwatu in the begining. Anyone who’s been down there lately would probably find it hard to believe what it used to be like, not to mention the trek down to the waves. Okey Dokey friends Troy and I wanna wish ya’s all a very special Christmas for tomorrow, if ya can, spare a thought for old Slim who hasn’t had a Chrissy at home with Mum for the last 11 odd years. Thanks again and see ya’s here in Bali soon !!!
