MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Good morning crew, thanks for droppin by the baliwaves for the run down on surf and weather conditions around Bali today . I was down the beach doing the surf recon of the Outer reefs at 6.30am. Wave height has definitely dropped in size from what we had out there yesterday. But there’s still shoulder high to a few feet over head of size breaking between Kuta Reef and Airport Left . Me and a couple of the lads from here at Home Base were the first ones in the water at Kuta Reef (8.00am), even though the tide was still pretty low we were taking turns on the shoulder to head high waves that were consistently peeling across the shelf. Good fun, even when we called it a day at 10.00am there were still only around 15 surfers in the lin-up . Middle Reef was still picking up some solid 4ft set waves but I reckon there was twice the amount of surfers out there. Way down at Airport Left was also some nice head to head high plus sized waves breaking, but also looking pretty crowded with 20-30 surfers on it. I’d have to imagine there’d still be some nice waves coming through down on the bukit end of the island at places like Balangan and of course Uluwatu would have to be in the double head high class. At first the wind was coming lightly outta the N-NE up until 8.30am when the Tradewind sparked into life and straight off-shore @ 5-8knot . Right now at 11.25am we’ve got a beautiful day for the holiday’rs with nothing but blue sky and sunshine for all to get outside and enjoy. The water temperature today was perfect for boardshorts or bikini’s @ 24-25 degree’s Celsius. Our man Pierre has also loaded another surf report from his travels along with a few photos included so check out his Readers Report for that. Plus the lads from the Kandui Surf Resort up in the Menatawai island chain have got more on their Mentawai islands report page. The good guys at www.ihfonline.org who have been running the Balinese Orphan Schooling Program are in serious need of financial help to keep their operation above water, so please if anyone can help these fantastic people please drop them a line.
