Bali Surf Report – July 2 2007

MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** G’Day crew and thanks for stopping by for the baliwaves.com daily surf and weather report . Ok another fresh week of surf for all the lucky bastards holidaying here in Bali . Right now the time in Bali has just gone 7.30am and I’ve just returned from doing the surf recon of the Outer Reefs here in Tuban. And contrary to what the swell *prediction websites are saying wave height has indeed increased in size yet again today. Wind direction was coming lightly outta the East @ 2-5knot and off-shore, but you can bet ya last dollar that when the Tradewind kicks in it’ll get way stronger and more outta the ESE. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left was ranging between 3-5ft+. The tide was just coming off the bottom of a 0.8mtr Low and should hit a solid High tide of around 2.4mtrs around lunch time. Kuta Reef was showing plenty of promise for when she gets a bit more water over the reef breaking in the 2-4ft class. But there were already a few eager surfers out there not caring to wait for the better conditions . Middle Reef was smoking at 5ft+ (double head high plus) and while I was watching one surfer pulled into a screaming perfect tapered pit. Airport Left was also getting it’s fair share of swell with the set waves breaking in the 3-4ft range. If the wind holds off till mid morning Airport Right will also be cranking in the 3-4ft+ providing some backhand relief for the natural footers. Once again you’d be able to take your pick of surfing locations from Kuta Reef all the way down to Uluwatu and hopefully this should help spread out the crowds. Weather wise outside it’s clear and sunny around this part of the island but looking down to the south there’s some solid cloud mass moving across. What I’m planning on doing is grabbing my 600mm lens and SLR and shoot some action out at my favourite surf spot, Kuta Reef. I’m just waiting for a bit more water.
