Bali Surf Report – August 24 2007

MORNING SURF UP-DATE **** Hello surfers and thanks for calling by the baliwaves again today. I went down for a surf check of the Outer Reefs at 6.30am this morning and was pretty happy to see that wave height had boosted a foot or two from yesterdays size. Wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport left was still only what I’d call small for Bali but still surfable at waist to shoulder high plus. Well on Middle Reef anyway. Still not enough size for Kuta Reef or Airport Left but Middle Reef already had half a dozen or so surfers catching some small but fun 2-2ft+ high waves. The wind was already strong outta the ESE-SE @ 7-10knot and straight off-shore between Legian and Uluwatu . So I would say that the best waves are gunna be back down at Uluwatu again today. Although wave height is expected to fade out through out the day and into tomorrow. What I’ve gone and done is cut some frame grabs from the video footage that Dewa Made shot yesterday down at Uluwatu . And once I’ve got this stuff loaded up for ya’s I’ll try and throw together another video clip or two from the same day. Dewa actually shot a bit of footage showing the stairs down through the cave and the entrance out to the waves at Uluwatu. I tell ya’s the set up is a whole lot easier than what it used to be having to negotiate down an old bamboo pole and rope . Weather wise around this part of Bali we’ve got pretty much blue sky and sunshine with a few fluffy white clouds moving across from time to time. Temperature wise the mercury should bust into the early 30’s on the Celsius scale by early afternoon. The water temp is still kinda unusually cooler than normal and down around the 19-20 degree level. I’m gunna be taking another good look at the swell prediction charts again later today and nail down the arrival of our next one, so stay tuned to the original Bali surf and weather report if ya wanna know whats happening here on the happy little holiday island called Bali.
