****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Hello folks and thanks for waiting around for the boys and I to get back from our little road trip up to Balian, up the North West coast of Bali.
It was too dark to see what was going on out on the Outer Reefs this morning as we hit the road just before 5.00am. Even though the wind was howling out of the East and the rain pissing down I ws reasuring the lads that we’d be scoring some nice waves when we got there. And it was all cheers and instant stoke as we pulled into the car park at Balian (6.45am). There was 3-4ft lines stacked up and peeling nicely both left and right, and not too mention the occasional bigger set. But I do have to say that a lot of other surfers also had the same idea as us and by 9.00am there would have been at least 45 surfers spread over three different peaks. Does anyone know why a lot of Japanese surfers travel in groups of 7-10 ? Still, there was plenty of waves for everyone.
Surfing conditions were perfectly clean with a light off-shore wind that lasted through till around 11.30am. before the ESE Tradewind started to affect it with cross / on-shore wind.
Tidal info we had a 1.7mtr High @ 8.00am and then a 0.7mtr Low set for 2.00pm
Weather wise, here in Tuban / Kuta the day started off with some torrential rain before the sun rose. The the day just went from good to perfect with loads of blue sky and sunshine !

Hell Yeah, everyone should go to Balian!
It’s the best wave in Bali, sick top-to-bottom barrels, it’s exactly what you traveled over to Bali for!!! Definitely worth the travel!!!
There is only one place in Bali that is better than Baian…
I probably shouldn’t mention it ’cause it’s pretty hollow and hectic, but Serangan is the goods. The only other place worth surfing in Bali is Uluwatu, but it’s pretty big and a bit too hollow for the average surfer!!!

Ho Yea balian is one of the best waves around. Way better than Canggu or Keramas. and heaps better than temples. dunno why this site keeps telling people to ride temples, That place is not that good.

I’d have to agree with you saying Balian is way better than Canggu, for sure. But better than Keramas…. come on Gogma, keep it real.
