***AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Today I decieded to head up to Canggu. I have some wheels again so I wonted to get out and take some photos, even if it I knew it would be small. I have been stuck in the same place pretty much since I got here so off I headed.
I arrived just as the tide was starting to turn and there was a few people already out making the most of the clean offshore conditions. The waves were only in the waist to chest high range so nothing to spectacular but they were fun.
I headed out at the river mouth with my camera. When I first swam out, there was only half a dozen surfers enjoying the waves. By the time I left a couple of hours later there was more like twenty. It was certainly a little inconsistent but the set waves that came through were making it worth the paddle.
All in all I had a fun morning taking some photos, getting some excercise and enjoying the beautiful warm sunny weather that we are having here in Bali.
Till next time
Scott.
****MORNING SURF UP-DATE****
Good morning surfers and welcome back to the baliwaves for more surfing and weather info from your favourite little surfing holiday island of Bali.
Ok and things are starting to look a little better out there today and the end of this flat spell is almost in sight, at last. This mornings surf recon of the Outer Reefs was showing a slight improvement in wave height between Kuta Reef and Airport Left, with the 2-2ft+ wave breaking (that’s waist to shoulder high). We also have a return of clean wind blowing straight off-shore out of the East. There were a few surfers on Kuta Reef and once again KR was peeling off perfectly but only in the waist high class. Middle Reef was also breaking nicely with the morning 0.8 Low tide in the waist to shoulder high range and only 3 surfers in the water. Airport Left had another handful of surfers out there but only breaking in the knee to waist high plus range.
Tidal info; the first of our tides today was a 0.8mtr Low @ 8.00am and then well have a 2.2mtr High around 2.00pm.
Looking for a wave today, well as I mentioned there were a few diferent options for a quite and uncrowded wave here on the Outer Reefs. Down on the Bukit (southern end of the island) you’d be able to find a few smallies breaking at Balangan and the best waves with the biggest crowds would be at Uluwatu. For the in experienced surfers the beach breaks between Kuta and Legian will be at their best from lunctime through till mid afternoon.
Weather wise today more perfect holiday conditions, blue sky, sunshine and off-shore wind. Expecting a maximum temperature of around 34 degree’s, with a water temperature of around 23-24 degree’s Celsius.
Photo Galleries dept; And a big round of thanks to our man behind the scenes Troy, he’s been working dayu and night to get baliwaves looking how it is and has just finished transfering all our old existing photo galleries on to our new site. So if your new to baliwaves.com take a tour through the thousands of photos taken from all around Bali and beyond.
Poll Dept; alright as you know we’ve had a lot of requests for a long boarding page on baliwaves.com and thats why we have ran the latest Poll, for or against. The way it looks there is enough response to warrant a new section on baliwaves but the problem is it’s going to be hard for me to collect enough photos in one session. I could for sure get enough shots of “learners making themselves look silly on mini mals” but for the serious longboarder it’s gunna be tough. maybe, we can create somewhere on baliwaves where you long boarders could load up your own material (photos and reports etc etc). So thats it, ASAP we’ll create a new section on the site and if it gets some traffic we’ll keep it if not…. fair enough, or what ?
Swell dept; Things are starting to look better and this weekend we should have some surf happening around the island. So make sure you check in over the weekend and we should have plenty of new photos and material for ya’s to gawk at.
Email dept; Hang in there and dont curse old Slim to badly if your still waiting for a response to your email query. I’m getting there with only 70 replies to get through. And I should be back on top of em by the end of the weekend ok.
Have a good and try and get some work done before the weekend hits
Regards
Slim
Hiya Slim, has there been any crackdown on the reported carrying of boards and riders not wearing of shirts on speda motors by the polici, sounds like their looking for more lunch money … jon
huh ? who said there was “crackdown” on boards on bikes ? not wearing shirts ? sounds like miss information to me. but ya can expect that after magazines write shite like “surf board tax to leave Bali….” etc etc etc. But if you haven’t got a bike license, think yourself lucky if you only get a “on the spot fine” what would happen in your country if you were pulled over and failed to produce a license ? But as far as my eye’s see there’s people still riding around with surfboards attached to their bikes and half of them aren’t wearing shirts, I only wish that the other half wern’t wearing any… !!!!
