****AFTERNOON SURF UP-DATE****
Good afternoon to all you surfers that have been waiting around for the latest news on todays surfing and weather conditions from here in Bali.
Well looky here, another personal best with a massive 38 new photos dumped onto your monitor !!!
Our day started off with a 7.00am surf check on the Outer Reefs here in Tuban to find wave height loking like it had dropped off with only 1-2ft+ showing between Kuta Reef and Airport Left. Now we, the boys and I from here at Home Base had originally planned to sneak down to Bing to catch the early morning Low tide. But luckily we stopped up on the hill at the look out over Padang Padang to see what was happening down at Bingin. Wave height from Impossible’s down to Bingin was only showing in the 1-2ft+ range as well, but with at least 12 surfers sitting on the small take off zone. So we pressed on to Uluwatu.
Our first glimpse of Ulu was of 3-4 footers breaking on the Main Peak and running through to the inside Racetrack. But as the tide crept up so did the wave size and it wasn’t long before Uluwatu was hitting a solid 5-5ft+ (double head high plus on the sets). Crowd wise it was pretty busy with at least 70+ surfers spread between Temple’s and the Main Peak. But the waves just didn’t stop coming, set after set. I’d also have to admit that todays session down at Uluwatu was probably the best to date this year. Unfortunately for one of our crew who got nailed by a solid set at Temples by trying to fade out just a little too long trying to set up for a deep tube and got slammed. The end result for Rob was a trip to the doctors and 8 stitches in his foot. I also saw one other guy with a nice sized hole in his head from a visit to the reef.
Weather wise today, perfect blue sky with clean ESE-SE off-shore wind between Kuta and Uluwatu.
Ok crew I’m keeping it short and sweet today, but there’s a big chance we’ll be trying our luck down South again tomorrow so make sure ya call back by the one and only original baliwaves.com.
I’d also just like to mention that the Dewi Sri “live seafood” restaurant here in Tuban is once again under the control of the original owner and back to serving up the freshest seafood in Bali. If you want to give it a try tell em baliwaves.com sent ya down to sample a free plate of their live prawns. Plus starting from today the owner wants all you sporting type surfers coming in and try your luck and maybe win some free seafood. There’s going to be 3 different sporting options for you to choose. 1/ Play the owner (Nyoman) or Slim in chess and win and you’ll win a seafood banquet for two people or anything up to the value of Rp300,000. 2/ hit the bullseye on our dart board and win a Rp100,000 discount off your meal, three throws to hit the bull. 3/ cut the cards and find an Ace and receive a Rp200,000. discount off your meal. Not too mention HAPPY HOUR from 5-7pm everyday you can get ice cold beers Large Rp20,000 and small Rp12,000. These offers are only for our baliwaves.com supporters.
If your planning a trip to Bali this year (and I know you are !!) feel free to drop me an email if you want a helping hand organising anything.

a guy named Mike just came down there Monday the 11th and he has been surfing down in Uluwatu. He surfs a Simon board, and has Polynesian tattoos in his lower leg and both of his arms. He is a pretty good surfer, and I was wondering if you can take some shots of him. I’d really appreciate it!
stoked!! be there in a few days!
Gidday
Im taking the boss (the good wife ) to Bali for a couple of weeks in April. We’re gonna stay in kuta so she can shop around while I surf ( shes not into waiting on the beach and holding my towl, )….
…..Id like to balance out the conjugal duties with a few waves, so…..do I take a 6 footer widish swallow and a 6ft 6 that turns around all right but dosnt easily get into waves with a bit of uumpphh……
……Or the swallow and a 7ft pintail that goes pretty good in waves of consequence ?
Hope you can help with this….Cheers
Chris
Hi Chris !
Sounds like a good swap you’ve made with your missus mate !
I’d be taking the small board that you ride the most and then the 7′ 0″ as a back up. In anything in the head to double head high range your gunna be surprised how good it will actually turn, paddle into em.
Hope to see ya out at Kuta Reef if it’s cranking !!!
Thanks for the info Slim…..
………7 footer it is, its a sweet board…I dont mind doing a few turns on the beachs and just picking some nice lines on the reef….how much are they chargiing to get out to the reefs ?
regards
Chris
