****MORNING SURF UP-DATE****
Good morning surfers and thanks for stopping into the baliwaves.com for more news on tadays surfing and weather conditions from here on the happy little holiday island of Bali. And thanks to Hendra and his Team of photographers for these latest photos taken down at Uluwatu. As usual Uluwatu was providing plenty of Tube rides for the crew surfing down there yesterday.
And moving right along, this mornings surf check on the Outer Reefs here in the laid back area of Tuban (southern end of Kuta) was showing wave height to have backed off atouch but still producing some fun little surf in the waist to head high class. Kuta Reef had waist to chest high waves peeling along the reef, Middle Reef was slightly bigger, around 3ft or head high on the set waves. Middle’s will improve as the tide runs out a bit more. And Airport Left had waist to Chest high plus waves, but with around 30+ surfers already on it at 9.00am.
Surfing conditions earlier this morning were a touch bumpy with the wind coming out of the NW @ 2-4knot. But now @ 10.00am the ESE-SE Tradewind has kicked in blowing clean off-shore wind between Kuta and Uluwatu.
Tidal info for today is saying we had a 2.1mtr High tide @ 6.00am and then she’ll be running back out for a 0.8mtr Low around 1.00pm. Our next phase of the moon with be a New Moon on the 21st of this month so we will start seeing some better tide ranges over the next week.
Weather wise around this part of the island the morning started off with some cloud cover but now it’s pretty much just blue sky and sunshine for the remainder. Heading for a maximum temperature of around 31 degree’s Celsius. With the water temperature sitting around the 19-20 degree Celsius mark.
Our daily sms surf report from the G-land Surf Camp reads like this, Just another day here in G-Land. Wave height is still holding in the magic 3-5ft range (head to double head high) with the wind just starting to turn true off-shore. 4 surfers in the water surfing at money Trees. I don’t know about you guys and girls but it sure sounds good to old Slim.
G-land; Ok the 10% discount for the early bookings into the G-Land Surf Camp has finished but I’ve spoken with the boss and he’s still prepared to give anyone who mentions baliwaves.com a 5% discount on standard, twin share and fan bungalows and a 10% discount on their air conditioned bungalows. Just mention baliwaves.com at their office and you’ll get money back in your pocket.
And don’t forget to drop me a line if your looking for some surfer friendly accommodation here in Tuban. Right here at Home Base we have single rooms for US$15.00, US$18.00 couple’s & US$25.00 for a twin share room. All rooms have Air conditioning, hot and cold water, tv, refridgerator and large private bathroom. 300mtrs back from the beach in fron of the Outer reefs here in Tuban.
Swell Forecast; Ok here’s my interpretation of whats going to be happening surf wise over the next week. Today (Saturday) see’s wave height holding in the 2-4ft+ range around Bali and slightly bigger on East Java (G-Land). Sunday we may get a small pulse as the tide starts to push back in through the afternoon but basicall still the smae size as today. Tuesday morning and wave height is dropping off back into the 1-3ft range depending on location. Then while everyone is sleeping on Tuesday night there’s be a very solid system moving onto our reef breaks with huge waves for Wednesday morning (Padang Padang). Thursday and wave height is still pretty big through the early morning before fading out ast through the rest of the day. Then Saturday see’s wave height back down in the 2-4ft range depending on location. Further out there is another smaller system moving in but a bit far out to be certain of size and period.
Changing dollars to Rupiah on the streets of Kuta you’ll find that –1AU$=Rp8,125 — 1US$=Rp10,200–
Ok crew have a good one and stay tuned to the baliwaves.com through out the weekend as we’ll keep the photos and reports flowing.
Best Regards from Bali

Sunday 19th
Hey there slim,
Looking out at Petitengat there seemed to be a good swell developing 6am. I didn’t come to Kuta becuz I promised to have a home day today. This could be the fringes of that swell you’re promising Wednesday.
if it is there could be nice waves for the next few days.
If it holds up may see ya tomorrow morning in Kuta.
Cheers Doc.
Cheers
