BALI
12th – 13th June 2013
Hello surfers and thanks for taking the time out to drop into the baliwaves.com (Bali’s original surf report website since 1999) for the latest news and hands down best views on today’s surfing and weather conditions from right here on your primary tropical surfing holiday destination of BALI.
Ok ok, so yesterday was pretty well a wash out here along Bali’s West Coast. There was small and short lived spike in wave height early in the morning but as soon as the high tide filled in it was pretty much lake city at most locations except for the waist to head high freak set hitting Uluwatu.
But, we were counting on today’s positive new swell to make up for yesterday and she sure did. Me and the boys hit the road for Uluwatu and Bali’s premier surfing location down on the southern most end of the island. Arriving at 9.45AM to find wave height in the 3-5ft class (head to double head high with the off bomb set wave thrown in for good measure. I tell ya’s even though there were already over 70 *surfers in the line up from the top of the Racetrack to the Main Peak there were quite a lot of waves going begging for someone to master them. I was a totally different scene up on the Temple section with some long straight lines almost going square at times. And the right people for the job were all over em.
Ok so sit back and have a flick through today’s mega sized 110 strong photo gallery. Tomorrow see’s the start of the Oakley Bali Pro Trial’s event where one lucky Indonesian surfer will earn a wild card into the up coming main event happening very soon. I’m not exactly sure where it’s going to be running tomorrow but I’d say it’s either going to be Keramas on the East Coast or Canggu here along the premier coast line, don’t worry we’ll cover it for ya’s if your not already here on the “Island of the Gods”.
Weather wise we had a mainly warm and over cast start to the day with some serious midday heat, then clouding back up again late this afternoon. Wing direction varied from an early NE to ENE then E before settling into the SE to finish off the day. All in all all of them good direction for the West Coast of Bali.
One more thing before I check out for tonight, and I don’t know how many times I have mentioned this before. If you want to be cool and ride a motorcycle around Bali make sure you wear a helmet. Not for my sake but for your own safety and I’m sure if the cops pulled you over and issued you with an on the spot fine you’d be screaming corruption…. I reckon the police force should just make you lock up your bike and escort you back to the station and fill out some paper work and then make a court appearance and then pay a hefty fine. I tell ya the amount of people riding bikes down on the bukit, and looking like dead give away’s that they are not used to riding bikes in ever changing conditions not wearing helmets is a friggen joke. Don’t be a statistic at least wear a helmet !
By the way the photos we load on baliwaves are edited in LOW RESOLUTION which means low quality so I can get them loaded up for one thing. Feel free to copy them but don’t expect a good quality print, all the original full resolution files are on my computer for the asking.

Wow…!
That’s an awe inspiring set of shots!
The barrel riders have come to town or what!! Some of those take offs: my god that’s good work!
Top speed on some of those waves…mach 2 for sure!
Particularly love those Temples and wide Line up shots!
Mate, just awesome all round…
Thanks!
I agree with Nikko, and also agree with you about the bikes. Desi got hit by a learner driver 2 weeks ago in Singa. Helmet saved her sweet head. Still spend 2 days in hospital though.
